Ooh I love the Oscars. Here are the Nominations and my guesses:
Best Film
Slumdog Millionaire
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader
My Choice: I think they are all borrrinnnngg. I’ll go for Milk because I like Milk in my tea.
Probably will win: The Reader (because it’s about war! death! destruction! Kate Winslet’s Chi Chis!)
Best Actress
Anne Hathaway – Rachel Getting Married
Angelina Jolie – The Changeling
Melissa Leo – Frozen River
Kate Winslet – The Reader
Meryl Streep – Doubt
My Choice: Angelina, because Angelina, in her acceptance speech will say, “Thanks to the ladies, Anne *evil look*, Melissa, Meryl and – what’s the other one? Oh yeah, Kim. Kate, I mean Kate”.
Probably will win: It’s Kate Winslet’s year, she’s been waiting for so long.
Best Actor
Mickey Rourke- The Wrestler
Frank Langhella – Frost/Nixon
Sean Penn – Milk
Richard Jenkins – The Visitor
Brad Pitt – The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
My Choice: Mickey! He was so good in the wrestler. Did you know they nearly got Sly Stallone or Nicholas Cage to do it? Urgh.
Probably will win: Sean Penn. I have a feeling.
Best Supporting Actress
Marisa Tomei – The Wrestler
Penelope Cruz – Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Amy Adams – Doubt
Viola Davis – Doubt
Taraiji P Henson – the Curious Case of Benjamin Button
My Choice: What? Out of this lot. I’ll go for Amy Adams because she was so cute in Enchanted.
Probably will win: Penelope – and hopefully after this she’ll stop playing the doped-up-over-emotional-psychotic-spanish-girlfriend-who-cries-and-screams-a-lot.
Best Supporting Actor
Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight
Philip Seymour Hoffman – Doubt
Josh Brolin – Milk
Robert Downey Jr – Tropic Thunder
Michael Shannon – Revolutionary Road
My Choice: Robert Downey Jr should win every competition he enters
Probably Will Win: Heath, Heath, Heath.

I can’t believe The Dark Knight was not nominated for Best Picture! It’s not a brilliant movie, but at least I was able to sit through the whole thing (which is more than I can say for Slumdog Millionaire). Seriously, I failed to make it through the first five minutes of Danny Boyle’s film, and you know how much I love Anil Kapoor!
Robert Downey Jr IS brilliant; I can’t believe he wasn’t nominated for Best Actor for his work in Iron Man (don’t laugh, it was a good performance). That said, I think Heath deserves that posthumous Supporting Actor Oscar.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who didn’t love Slumdog! I’ve got a feeling it will win a lorra lorra prizes though! Annoying or what.

Haha I love what you said about Kate/Angelina. It would be so funny to see that. I think the Oscars aired in the early hours of the morning here so I missed them. Oh well.
