Whoops: Neals Yard Haul, Rose Water, Organic Lip Formula, Eucalyptus Pastilles

Silly me! I had a £10 gift voucher to spend in the Neals Yard store and I had gone to buy a new toner, nothing more, nothing less.

Unfortunately I ended up hauling lots of things, creams and potions for my mum and aunt, but also a few things for myself. The shop itself is really nice and very tempting….like apothecary (remember when Space NK was, Space NK apothecary?!)

What I ended up keeping:

I nearly bought the Orange Flower Water Toner but I didn’t like the smell so went for good old rosewater. I bought this years and years ago and thought it was an excellent toner for sensitive skin:

I have good hopes for this stuff, although it does contain alcohol:

Aqua (Water), Alcohol denat., Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe vera) leaf juice powder*, Rosa damascena (Rose) essential oil, Levulinic acid, Glycerin, Potassium sorbate, Coco-glucoside, Citronellol, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Linalool.

But I like this more than just plain rosewater which I find a little sticky.

Next, I bought some Eucalyptus pastilles because I though they’d be good for my sore throat, due to hayfever!
These sweets are weird – sorry but they don’t taste like Rowntrees, they’re quite small, very dense and a little chewy, they taste weird and a bit bitter at first but are ok once you get going.

It does seem to soothe my throat a little:

Gum arabic, brown sugar, honey, pure propolis extract, essential oils of eucalyptus, mint and rosemary.

Honey and Propolis has to be a good thing for us hayfever suffers, right?!

Last week I acquired 6 new lip balms. Where have they gone? I DON’T KNOW. I must lose more lip balms than anyone else.

So I bought a new one:

The Organic Lip Formula from Neals Yard is part of the Sun Collection and comes with a SPF 15.

It doesn’t smell or taste of anything and call me sad, but I love the pale yellow colour of the case BUT I think it’s a bit too expensive for a stick lip balm – I paid £5.70 for it. AND…it’s grainy. Really, really grainy. Urgh.

Cera alba (Beeswax)*, Glycine soja (Soya) oil*, Ricinus communis (Castor) oil*, Sesamum indicum (Sesame) oil*+, Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea nut) butter*, Triticum vulgare (Wheat) germ oil, Prunus armeniaca (Apricot) kernel oil*+, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil*, Daucus carota (Carrot) extract*, Symphytum officinale (Comfrey) extract*, Citrus medica limonum (Lemon) oil*, Commiphora myrrha (Myrrh) oil, Tocopherol, Citral, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.

Finally I bought this Dandelion and Burdock “formula”. It’s a blend of herbal…stuff, and you take it three times a day, a few drops with mixed with a small amount of water until the course is finished.

In the shop it said that this was for clarifying the skin, but online it suggests something slightly different:

This formula enhances the eliminative processes, helping to get rid of waste products and chemical toxins etc through the skin, bile, bowel movement and urination. Taken over three months it will help to detoxify the system, resulting in a healthier more radiant skin and ease of inflammation.

I could do with some detoxing!

Water, alcohol*, yellow dock root* 5%, cleavers herb* 5%, burdock root* 3.75%, red clover flower* 3.75%, nettle leaf* 3.75%, dandelion root* 3.75%.

I had better stop going into Neals Yard or I will end up buying everything. So far, happy with my purchases although the shop is so much dearer than I remember! But I will go back when I need more skincare, everything was so nicely presented.

* Actually I’m a bit miffed as they were supposed to give me a free cloth bag for spending over £25…ho hum, I guess I now have more Bags For Life than actual plastic bags.

I thought that I was the only one who had such a terrible track record of losing lip balms. Somewhere, some elf must have the nicest lips around, with what I lose.
