Wakey, Wakey! Herbalife Quick Spark Lozenges with CoEnzyme Review

Regular readers may know I don’t get much sleep, and nearly every morning I clasp on to the duvet, the lovely warm duvet and pray that God will turn back time for a few hours so I can catch more Zzz’s.  Never happens though.

People who get little sleep like me will feel the lull around midday, and after lunch.  Sometimes if I am really tired, I am exhausted first thing too. Coffee helps, but I am not too into Pro Plus or Red Bull type products – I’ve actually noticed a louder hearbeat when I use some of those products so I avoid and stick to stabbing myself with a pencil.

Herbalife’s Quick Spark Lozenges therefore, appealed to me, greatly:

Herbalife Quick Spark Co Enzyme 1

These lozenges (don’t look anything like Strepsils incase you’re wondering) are small tablets which you place under the tongue until it’s dizzolved.  Dosage is up to 2 per day. Apparently it doesn’t contain caffiene or preservatives. (Oh I also recommend Anatomicals Snoozers Are Losers Patches!)

The science bit….

“Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH) also known as Coenzyme 1, has crucial roles in many cellular processes. One of them is acting as a primary enzyme in the production of cellular energy. During this process Adenosine triphosphates(ATP), a naturally occurring molecule in the body essential for the creation of energy in the cellular level is produced. ATP is used for nearly every task in the human body.”

I won’t even pretend to understand that, I’ll just tell you if I think it worked or not.

You get 2 blister packs. Me and Mr C took one each to work:

Herbalife Quick Spark

They’re not hard to take and they don’t really taste of anything.

Do I think they work? Actually yes.  Then again many products for keeping you awake work quite well but I like the fact this doesn’t contain Caffiene – although I am hardened to it, when I consume too much I go tingly and lightheaded all over. And yes, heart palpatations.  I don’t get nasty side effects with this, but I feel somewhat ‘brighter’.

Don’t get me wrong – I don’t feel like I can climb Everest after taking this, but I do feel like i can concentrate more (ie. if the screen looks a bit fuzzy, it seems a bit clearer after taking these). It takes about 15 minutes to work on me, on paper it says it takes 10-30 mins to work and that you need to be ‘active’  - that is, if you take this then lie down between some pillows, you are going to fall asleep but if you keep working, you should feel the difference.

Here are the tablets – they are only small!:

Please note that things like this will be different for everyone. I quite liked them and they helped me focus throughout the day so once I can find a reasonable online supplier I’d try them again.  Or try to get more sleep. One day Cecil! One day….

Eek Nicotanimide? I used to smoke to stay alert, and that worked, too. Made me smell beastly, though. I’m afraid I’d get addicted to this type of thing… I’ll stick with 6 cups of coffee a day for now ;) Might need to try the pencil stabbing, LOL

Nicotinamide is literally Vitamin B3, and as with all the vitamin bs is well known for helping release energy stores in the body. Have you tried a vitamin compound strong before? You can buy them from the pharmacy, and I find that when I take these I feel less tired and sluggish :) Berocca is also good for a quick boost and tastes good, but I can’t remember if it has caffeine in it! I don’t think you can get addicted to it though because it’s naturally occurring in the diet.
Incidently, nicotinamide is the key ingredient in Freederm gel for spots :D
