Urban Decay 24/7 Liners VS Shu Uemura Drawin

Urban Decay recently released three new colours;

Ye-Yo – White

Rockstar – Deep Purple

Stash – A deep dirty Green.

I adore Urban Decay Pencils – I can normally assess how good a pencil is by how well it comes off on my waterline and how many sweeps it takes.

I own pencils my Make Up Forever, Chanel, Dior, Nars, NYX – but the two brands that really shine to me are Shu Uemura’s Drawing Pencils and Urban Decay’s 24/7 Pencils.

My Collection:

There is a real assortment of colours there!

This is what they say about Urban Decay –

The best Eye Pencil ever, ever, ever! Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof, too. Velvety-soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect with the wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and unusually vibrant neutrals. Incredible with Urban Decay Eyeshadows!

Created with 50% moisturizing ingredients suspended in a sophisticated waterproof formula, 24/7 Eye Pencils offer long-lasting color and a dreamy, creamy feel when applied. With Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Cottonseed Oil, these pencils condition skin and stay with you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Tips: 24/7 Eye Pencils are ideal for lining inner lids because the waterproof formula.

This stays put. Just apply, try not to blink for a sec, and you’ve got immovable liner.

Shu Uemura’s –

Smooth-textured eye pencils in matte and metallic finishes to define, color and highlight. May be used for precise eye lining or blended for all-over color. Ultra-smooth application provides intense long-lasting color results.
Available in 2 finishes: Matte (M) and Metallic (ME)
Waterproof. Smudgeproof. Transfer resistant.

Both pencils are pigmented and very soft.

Both are smudgeproof and waterproof.

There are a nice variety of colours. I prefer the boldness of the Urban Decay shades; colours like Covent (Green) Deviant (a royal metallic blue) and honey (goldy white) are drop dead gorgeous. With Shu, I can’t really think of any of the shades that make me swoon, although I love the different-ness of Orange Brown and Wine.

With Shu, there are more highlighting colours, like White, Yellow, Light Pink.

I find that the Shu pencils are creamy and lovely, but they do not apply easily on the waterline. I have to run it at least four times to get decent depth. With the pencils from Urban Decay (with the exception of a few weaker pencils, such as 1999, a plum with gold), they transfer AMAZINGLY to the waterline. Covent, Deviant and Honey just ooze colour – one run with the soft pencil and the colour appears bold and smoothly. Gorgeous!

There is Zero (black) and Bourbon (brown) from Urban Decay which look great if you like neutralish colours. With Shu, nearly all the colours are user friendly, and the muted green, khaki and deep navy would look great on in the day, or night.

Overall I prefer the Urban Decay pencils. The colours are fearless, and the application is strong, even on my watery eyes. It also lasts ages. But Shu is still a great buy.
