Tanya Burr Lip Glosses Review

I am naturally a sucker when it comes to lip products, so with great interest, I did some testing of these two new lip glosses by YouTuber Tanya Burr.  If you’ve never heard of her, Tanya is a make up artist, future sister in law to be to the also very well known Pixiwoo sisters, and has nearly (at the time of writing) 2 million subscribers on YouTube.

I’ll be honest now and say I have never watched a Tanya Burr video on YouTube and I am not swayed by someone’s popularity when it comes to reviewing their releases.  The Tanya Burr lip glosses (there is also a range of nail polishes) have been created with eyeCANDY who are quite an established if niche brand, making lashes and nail polishes. In other words, everything has been made professionally.

First impressions with the packaging is positive – each gloss comes in cardboard to keep it pristine, and it has quite a young fresh feel in line with brands like eye Candy, Rimmel, MUA and a hint of NYX.

The packaging is straightforward enough, nothing gimmicky here, and it actually feels quite sturdy and not at all cheap and flimsy with a good solid container. Tanya Burr Lip Glosses Review 1

The two shades I have are wearable and natural – Afternoon Tea, a light soft milky pink, and Aurora which looks like a dark pink on online swatches but is actually a warmer pink with glitter.

The first things I noticed about the glosses is that they are more pigmented than I expected, offering good coverage to the lips and it’s also quite a thick gloss that covers the lips well.  I expected sheer and quite a thin texture but it was quite the opposite, with a hydrating, rich feel.  If you don’t like the sensation of something heavy on your lips you might not like these glosses, but I do;

The brush again is very decent; a nice slightly squarish tip and soft. No complaints here.

You can see here that the colours are quite pigmented for gloss, a nice in-between from a regular sheer gloss and a liquid lip colour.

The gloss has a sweet cake like smell – I don’t really like scent in my lip products but this is fine – if it’s fine when you have a hangover and a banging headache I don’t know (sometimes not feeling well can put me off scents). Once again this scent gives the product a young, teenage feel which doesn’t mean someone older can’t use it, but I just feel it’s particularly targeted at the youth market.

Afternoon Tea is a milky pink that has really grown on me. It looks like MAC Angel lipstick in lip gloss form, also a nicer version of NARS Turkish Delight, which smells worse than this (horrible plastic).

Aurora is also a very wearable strawberry shortcake type pink with a hint of sparkle, also super pretty and wearable offering more colour than Afternoon Tea.  I prefer the latter because I just love MAC Angel lipstick and it reminds me of it, but this is still a really nice colour:

All in all, I don’t know what I was expecting from this range of lip glosses, but I am not disappointed and think it’s a rather pleasant range of pigmented, wearable glosses for a decent price.

You can buy the whole selection of Tanya Burr Lip Glosses here for around £7 (prices on the site are in Euros).
