Paul & Joe is a brand I have a weakness for because it has such stunning packaging and concepts. I love their Eye glosses, Creamy Lipsticks and Pigments. For Winter 2009, they launched a gorgeous looking purple and gold packaged range called ‘Smoke and Mirrors’. In Asia this comes as a set (with the shadow, liner and case) but it the UK and US, like the mugs we are, we have to buy the products […]
I picked up some of the NYX eyeshadow sets called ‘For Your Eyes Only’ a while ago. I paid about £7 each for them including shipping from eBay. Now I have for you SWATCHES! These NYX palettes contain 10 shadows in them and they have a name or theme (ie – Catwalk eyes, Smokey Eyes, For Brown Eyes etc.) See the swatches after the jump!
You can’t beat a good giveaway and this week, even I am excited about the prize in hand! Remember Frontcover cosmetics? They did a range of palettes last year for Christmas which were exclusive to Boots. They were out at a time when everyone was going crazy for the 88 colour palettes and were hugely successful. Anyway, this yeah they have launched a whole range of really really sparkly, party like cosmetics in Boots (bargain […]
I have this little vendetta against make up in cardboard palettes – I don’t like their square little corners, I don’t like how bulky they are. Therefore, a cardboard based palette has a hard time with me when it comes to review time. I am judging this book by its cover. But then again….Too Faced’s palettes have been winning me over a lot lately. This Natural Eye palette for Autumn (or Fall if you like) […]
Pink & Black on the eyes – quite wearable really and great with dark hair: What palette did I use?
I was browsing on eBay, as one does, and I spotted these palettes from Graftobian, a US company that I think, mainly focuses of theatre make up (like Ben Nye or Kryolan). I like the idea of having a HD foundation that looks flawless! I am disappointed by MUFE’s HD foundation quite frankly so I bought one of these palettes, for about £13. I got Warm 01. There are loads of shade options, you can […]
I found an excellent seller on eBay to pimp NYX for me, so guess what – I pimped away! A big stash of NYX palettes arrived for me a week or so ago. Here are two of the Caribbean Collection palettes, which are named after…well, Caribbean Islands! St. Lucia! Oooh how I love my brights. These are on the matte side but aren’t they pretty too look at? Look after the jump to see swatches!
I’m a bit late with this one, but I got my paws on the beautiful Dior Night Butterfly Quint, that is part of the fall Jazz Club collection. Dior Quints > Chanel Quads. If you know what I mean. I love purples and they suit me but for some reason I am always drawn to greens instead. This quint comes with a mixture of black, purples and lilacs in the usual pretty palette: See swatches […]
Oooh look what I picked up…this rather lovely paletted from Too Faced, called French and Fabulous: I usually hate cardboard container type palettes but lately I’ve been looking for good value sets and basically products that I can apply…well, on the way to work. It contains 6 shadows and 2 bronzers – see after the jump to see a swatch!
Shu Uemura brought out a large palette costing £25 which takes 36 shadows or 18 blushers. My Shu Shadows don’t get much love so I decided to pick out my favs and put them in my big palette. Here it is: Notice the colors with a dip in them are the metallic shades from the older formula (before it got a nice posh, sturdy thick case). They are delicious, the best shadows in the world, […]
Despite being a make up junkie, I have to say I didn’t own anything from Trish McEvoy…until now! I guess Trish is not like MAC or Illamasqua, it doesn’t come and punch you in the face for attention, nor it doesn’t have the reach of huge brands like Dior and Chanel…its just not a brand I have paid attention too. But they have some nice bits! Read on for more images!
A year or so ago when I posted about a Frontcover Cosmetics palette, I never thought that I would still be getting emails about it today – where can I buy it, is it a nice palette, are the shadows pigmented, etc. Here it is: Frontcover Palettes are (at the time of writing) sold between October and Christmas in Boots (UK) only. Some of the products may still be sold come January if there is […]
Sleek make up as a range for darker skins but I should say that its for all skintones, but also caters for darker skinned ladies too. They have a number of palettes which contain 12 colours which are BRILL. (I can’t think of another word other than brill…) They cost £4.88 each, are quite often on offer (3 for 2 in Superdrug) and are very soft, very pigmented. (This blog has swatches and reviews from […]
I have a quite a lot of work to do, many words to churn out and what does a good procrastinator do? Finds things to melt into palettes! I have had a few empty palettes lying around for a while now I was intending to make into useful palettes. My Nars Multiples have lasted FOREVER. I must have chopped an inch off them now for various palettes but there was more than enough for another […]
This weeks giveaway is for this Boots No. 7 palette which can be used wet or dry – dry for a sheer look, wet for florescent! The colours are water-resistant and contains shades of vibrant green, apple green, lilac, metallic silver and soft mocha to add metallic shine to your eyes. If you don’t win, its available from 20th May – 14th July for £13! I have one to giveaway! Anyone may enter once, wherever […]
I still hate this palette with a passion, but I had to make it work. So here’s a quick EOTD: Breakdown: 1 – Highlight under brow bone 2 – Brown in crease 3 – Bright blue on lid 4 – Purple under the eye 5 – Dark blue under the lashes I guess the palette is ok, but I still concede that I NEED SHIMMER!
UPDATE: I regret buying the stupid eyeshadow palette so much. It’s pigmented but still a bit chalky and I still concede that there should be one shimmer in the palette. Argh! I wish I could get a refund! Do you like YSL? I liked the brand although its not one I buy from that often. It was hard not to like the Tresor D’Arfrique collection after seeing the promo: Hot, eh? It was pretty much […]
If you want to save money, then here’s a tip: Don’t got to Illamasqua. Just sayin’. Spring is here, and Illamasqua are offering us their first proper seasonal collection. How are you guys taking to Illamasqua. I realise the the Asia and US ladies don’t have the brand yet, is it terribly boring reading about it but not being able to get it or do you like looking at it anyway? Patience, ladies, it will […]
In case you haven’t noticed, I do like to make my own palettes, as witnessed here with my Nars Multiple Palette (I was ahead of them), my multi talented palette or just putting palettes together in general. I bought a Make Up Forever plastic palette with 12 squares from a UK based shop called PAM (formerly MAP) but there are also many on Screenface, and either option is quite pricey. If I could choose again, […]
I know everyone goes nuts for those multi coloured eyeshadow palettes on eBay – I have a problem with them because I find they tend to stain the skin. Nevertheless, being bored I grabbed a few off eBay: 120 Colour Palette: I love brights, so I like this. If you like neutrals you might use about, ooohhh 3 colours. There’s an interesting marbled section: Then I picked up two small palettes: A great one full […]
