Sleek! It has been SUCH a long time. You’re like an old college friend I haven’t spoken to for years. So, I totally totally had no expectations as I was sent a set of their new Lip VIP Semi Matte Lipsticks to review.
I pretty much adore all make up but my desert island products are: Foundation and Lipstick. And black eyeliner. Posh lipsticks – great! Gorgeous and affordable make up – even better!
Here are the 6 Sleek Lip VIPS:
The packaging is simple, quite lightweight but for the price looks decent. One of the lipsticks got a bit stuck in the tube but other than that, everything was totally fine with it. I love the clear bottoms as it means you can pick your shade easily when you have multiple colours.
They have numbers – although there’s a gap in the middle (I thought I was missing a lipstick or two!).
The formula promises a few things; full coverage colour, creamy texture, vittamin E, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil and gives a semi matte finish.
There are just 6 colours but they cover quite a few bases; soft pink, beige, warm pink, coral, orange and red. If they expand the range, a berry or purple would be lovely!
You can see from the swatches the colours are clearly very pigmented and have a soft dewy texture to them. They are quite creamy looking to me, although over time they become a bit more matte on the lips. They also stain the lips a little bit although the dewy glow fades quicker.
Here are the lip swatches:
Reserved looks beautiful in swatches (reminds me of my beloved MAC Angel) but on my skintone it is far too light and bright, and makes me look washed out and just plain odd. On a lighter skintone this could look really cute but for me there’s too much ‘white’ in there for it to look right on my warm complexion.
Private Booth is a creamy beige and it does a good job at covering lip redness too which makes it a good nude (again, a touch light for what I would comfortably wear these days but I think many would like it). I like the opacity of this!
Backstage is a pretty brown rose pink which would be my every day colour as it’s flattering and easy to wear. This is the one I would carry with me.
Guestlist is a orange-peach coral which looks really bright but actually look nice on the lips – not too bold but still face brightening. This is my second favourite colour as it has a really nice fresh orange and peach touch to it.
