Review: Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant

I am a big fan of toner for a whole host of reasons; to make my skin feel really clean, to make my skin feel fresher, to leave the skin slightly more moisturised (especially with Japanese ‘lotions’).  I dislike toners with alcohol as my skin is already dry, but I also don’t like how some moisturising toners can leave a sticky feeling to the skin.

A product I had a demo of once on a Aveda counter – a hand massage and the SA used this toner – little bits of dead skin came off (nice!) and my hands looked brighter.

Meet the Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant!

This non-abrasive liquid wipes away spent surface cells revealing a smoother, clearer, more refined complexion beneath-and pores that are primed for maximum treatment and moisture benefits.

  • Promotes skin clarity and smoothness
  • Leaves skin looking soft, smooth and supple-with a healthy glow
  • For all skin types

Review Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant

My current skin situation is that I don’t have time to do much, it’s quite dry and sensitive but it is glowing too (that mama glow?!). For me to add another product to my skincare routine well…it has to be good!

Review Aveda Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant 1

And the Aveda Kinetics Exfoliant is good…it is really good.

I have been using this 3 times a week to sweep away dead skin cells.  The result is brighter skin and it seems to help with my pores which can be prone to getting clogged.  Admittedly, as this contains alcohol and salicylic acid, I can’t use it every day- but then again you don’t need to.

The clear liquid has that slightly medicinal-antiseptic smell to it, although it isn’t horrible at all. I was worried that it would leave my skin painfully dry immediately afterwards but it didn’t – although I would definitely moisturise after this.

Also – this is the lazy bums way of exfoliating. I seriously don’t have time to use scrubs and what not at the moment – whereas sweeping this stuff over my face with a cotton wool pad takes a few seconds and is effective.

Use this product in the evening after cleansing, instead of toning and avoid the eye area.

I have been alternating this with a hydrating toner (more on that one later) but all in all, I am really happy with this product! Ladies who like to keep on top of exfoliating and who get odd breakouts and blocked pores like me should ch-ch-ch-check this out!
