Melvita’s latest range is called Algascience, a range for exfoliating and firming the skin just in time for summer!
I just love the blue colour scheme of this range – I know that sounds strange but I find it a very calming blue!
This exfoliating soap is a large sized bar with red seaweed particles and lichen carragaheen which expands when it comes in contact with water. I used this in a shower though as I don’t really do baths!
This soap smells like…well the sea. I can’t detect the floral elements in it, it reminds me the sea, it’s unusual but nice and quite refreshing. I don’t think it will appeal to every one but its not a long lingering scent so fairly inoffensive really. As I said before, it’s a generous sized soap, not a little slab (250g) which will last a while.
Looking at the ingredients, it looks like quite a good bar of natural soap not just a mix and pour base like some companies produce.
When I used this in the shower I noticed how creamy it was – it did foam, quite nicely but not too much and it’s a super duper soft texture despite the exfoliating elements. I love soap that melts away like this!
The exfoliating bits work quite well but as they’re quite large pieces don’t scrub too hard on delicate areas!
Whenever I use soap I find my skin has a different feel to it, like it’s a bit more stripped than when I use a shower gel. With this bar of soap, I get that sort of squeaky clean feeling but it’s not stripping, which is great.
As it’s a big bar with a curve it’s easy to hold in the hand too! Love it!
Verdict:
Can’t believe this soap is only £5. I think it’ll last a while- really like this soap as a bath or shower skin cleanser! See the product here.
Ingredients:
Sodium Palmate*, Sodium Palm Kernelate*, Aqua [Water], Algae [Chondrus Crispus (Carrageenan)], Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter [Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)], Sodium Chloride, CI 77891 [Titanium Dioxide], Citral**, Lavandula Hybrida Oil*, Linalool**, Sodium Hydroxide, Limonene**, Citronellol**, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil [Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil]*, Geraniol**, Litsea Cubeba Oil [Litsea Cubeba Fruit Oil].

That actually sounds like a soap bar I may be able to use! May give it a try. I have such dry skin on my legs and arms – it drives me crazy. I can’t use regular shower gels and soaps are a complete no go for me, even on my hands.
That is a beautiful bar of soap for sure!
