Origins VitaZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer with Mangosteen Review

Although I am halfway through trialling skincare from one particular brand at the moment, it doesn’t mean I don’t sometimes deviate and use somewhat…quicker, easier products like, tinted moisturisers or 2 in 1 eye creams and concealers.

Some days, speed is of the essence.

Origins VitaZing SPF 15 Energy-boosting moisturizer with Mangosteen (I LOVE mangosteen, probably one of my favourite fruits) is a fruity smelling, light textured, hydrating day cream that borders on tinter moisturiser but offers minimal coverage, instead leaving a glow to the face.

They say:

This multi-tasking moisturiser handles the vital jobs of hydrating, energizing and protecting to maintain skin’s momentum all day. Gives skin the refreshing zing of antioxidant-rich Mangosteen. And adds a healthy hit of radiance that mimics the glow you get from a week’s vacation.
Let’s talk about MANGOSTEEN though!

If you have never tried them, you need to.

Mind you, it’s a messy fruit. It’s not for people who are too scared to get things under their fingernails or can’t bear to see a fish head. It’s a very hard purple shelled fruit and you have to use your fingers and get your fingers right under there to pull the skin off to reveal the white segments. Or get your mum to do it. YUM!

Erm, back to the moisturiser. I like this packaging. I think it’s the orange, it looks bright and vibrant:

On the extremely lazy side I like it being in a tube – some mornings I am in such a rush I can’t open a pot of cream and use a spatula. I need to squeeze that lotion out like ketchup and slather it into my face – DONE.

This lotion is white but has small beads in it:

As you rub it into your skin it starts to turn a light browny colour – like a tinted moisturiser. It really melts into the skin nicely and although, as I mentioned before, it doesn’t offer as much cover as a tinted moisturiser, it just leaves a nice subtle glow to the face.

If you have excellent skin, you probably won’t need anything else. For me, I can use this, use a light dusting of powder foundation or just primer and I’m done.

Verdict: Really lovely day cream with SPF protection for a glowy finish and good for combination to moderately dry skin. My face is very dry at the moment and this PLUS serum is ok, this on it’s own wouldn’t be enough.

£25 for 50ml – buy it here.

you take off the stalk and then squeeze it til the skin gives way and then peel
leave the little stalk, score the skin’s circumference and twist so you have two halves and them bit out the segments with your teeth. yummozzzzz

Ahhhhhh mangosteen, so tasty…definitely worth the effort of getting to the middle bit! Even better if someone else is peeling it for you lol It’s the same with lobster 😀
I’ve tried a sample of this and I love how it smells, there’s not quite enough coverage for me unless my skin’s in perfect condition (not often!), but it does seem to even out my complexion and give me a bit of a nice glow
