Now that my beloved Asian BB cream has been taken over by Western brands attempting to do the same thing but failing, I am bored of the BB. So now we are on to CC. And actually, I was really excited about trying this Olay Regenerist CC cream – it’s my first one! I am a CC cream virgin!
So a CC cream is lighter than the BB (arguably Western BB creams are more like tinted moisturisers anyway, but Asian BB’s are quite thick and offer good coverage) and it is supposed to ‘correct’ the skin tone too (ie. reduce redness) as well as working as a primer, moisturiser and foundation. Considering the fact that many BB creams also correct the complexion too, I find it hard to see what the real difference is between BB and CC creams, bar the texture.
But anyway, here is Olay Regenerist’s CC cream. I love the space age swirl thing that’s going on. I have the shade MEDIUM and it comes in Light, Medium and Dark but are very blend able:
A unique 3-in-1 blending serum, SPF 15 moisturiser and sheer foundation. This anti-ageing Olay CC Cream, instantly perfects complexion and hydrates, reduces the look of wrinkles in 2 weeks and minimises the appearance of dark spots in 8 weeks.
I am guessing theses are the 3 elements you can see here (theres a clear gel in there two in which the other two products are suspended). The beige product is the foundation, the gel is the serum and the white stuff is the SPF15 moisturiser.
The product comes out like this – it does need a quick mix as the clear gel and beige colours don’t mix as they are squeezed out of the tube. The medium looks rather light – I thought it might look ashy on me but it did totally blend in to an almost invisible finish so the skin tone colour wasn’t actually that important.
The gel in this product makes it interesting to use – it feels quite silicone-y but is also lightweight, feels fresh on the skin etc.
I don’t know if it can control oil but it certainly has a light finish and feels lovely. I used this on my skin and the result was quite good (below) is exactly how my skin looks with nothing else on other than CC cream. My skin tone is quite even (spots can still be seen though) and my skin feels comfortable and fairly well hydrated with this on. It’s definitely a great lazy use product – it does hydrate and even things out nicely without too much effort.
Maybe because it is cream and serum heavy that’s why is seems to blend in so well – some BBs can be cakey and unnatural – this is the opposite.
Most days I am pretty lazy with make up especially if I am staying in! This product is perfect for lazy cover and hydration in one – so recommended for busy mums! Hehe.
Definitely a good CC cream to try out for beginners; I can’t say I would give up my normal moisturiser for this though, but it’s good for lazy days.
