Boy am I cutting down on the amount of spontaneous make up purchases I make lately. And yet, what can be nicer than a fresh new lipstick?
I am frequently disappointed with my Korean lip choice, I am not going to lie, because I’ve realised that:
A. They have gorgeous swatches by the colours are almost always off. Every beige tone or neutral tone is always horribly orange in real life.
B. The shades are quite repetitive – brights, reds, oranges, hot pink. Give me something new!
C. I find their lip products, or at least the more liquid formulas go off quite fast. Not always, mind, but my MAC lipsticks seem to stay good for ages.
Anyway. Despite all of the above, I get another one – Clio’s Rouge Heel Velvet is a matte finish, plush lipstick. They have some offerings of neutral colours, so I decide to buy Good Mauve (Shade 10) as it looks like a good MLBB.
Clio is somewhere in the middle in terms of quality and prices. This lipstick cost me £9 so it’s not so cheap really (well it isn’t to me – what is with these drugstore mascara’s costing £11 and that’s supposed to be cheap?!). The packaging is quite decent, it’s solid and you press the bottom and it clicks out.
The lipstick has a stiletto shape, hence the name. I twisted all the lipstick up and WOW there is very little product. If you take in account that some of it looks like its been shaved off, then…well it’s like barely any lipstick.
Ok I’ll forget all of that. This Mauve is more a warm rosy brown than my idea of mauve, which is usually cooler. However I can’t complain – the shade is a MLBB and it’s quite wearable.
Strengths of this lipstick are quite clear to me:
1. It is super pigmented.
2. It is very velvety and soft. Nice to apply, doesn’t drag at all.
3. The colour is nice.
4. It is long lasting too.
1. Still not the same as the swatch but almost.
2. Not much product.
Do I have a similar product. Probably…somewhere. Nothing exactly I can think of, so that makes it quite a good purchase. I would get another but I can’t trust the online swatches. There is also a rouge version of this which is a glossy finish if you are interested!
Have you bought a new lipstick lately?
