Despite being a big fan of cream eyeshadows, I never truly invested in Nars ones because they always creased. They were brilliant as bases though, as they are quite thick and sticky in comparison to other formulas but worn on their own; they didn’t quite do it for me.
I spotted one of their newest cream eyeshadow colours, Ponderosa on ASOS at a discounted price:
If you keep an eye on ASOS you will find odd price fluctuations on cosmetics like I saw 20-30% off current season Nars a while back! Then…it just went back to full price!
I had purchased Nars Arabian Nights and the SA told me at the time that Ponderosa is the perfect base, even though it is brown and Arabian Nights is purple.
I guess it could work – both are deep rich colours with a jewelled edge.
Ponderosa is a deep dark rich chocolate brown black, it reminds me of flecks of gold and ashes. So pretty. And so so so pigmented, which you don’t always get with cream eyeshadows.
But what is pretty if the formula is crap?
Well this formula is new of course, compared to the stuff I bought a year or two ago, and it is vastly improved. It’s drier, so sets, it’s super deep and rich, nice to blend, and can be really built up.
I’m not saying it won’t crease by the end of the day – it does, but some primer really helps. I found it an easy way to add some colour to my eyes, just smudging some across the lid.
LOVE this. If this is what future cream shadows by Nars is like, they will be spectacular!
*I bought this from ASOS for about £12 from what I remember!
