My favourite eye care products!

Ever since I was told by my optician that I seem to have very sensitive, easily irritated eyes that were ‘full of glitter’ I have tried to take care of them.  Vision is such an amazing gift, no? I think it’s the last sense that I would give up.

I still spend far to long in front of the PC, I still strain my eyes when I shouldn’t but I am doing better at taking care of them. I try to give them an eye wash every other day and use eye drops (hydrating ones) whenever they feel try.  I don’t use chunky glitter often at all, or mascara that flakes into my eyes (like fibre rich ones).

I like my natural eye colour! It’s a brown but a very yellow brown:

Here are some of my favourite eye care products (some have been reviewed already on this blog!).

1. Eye washes get a lot of gunk out. Optrex is great – it really cleans out the dirt and make up.

2. As a treat, eye masks like this one from Elemis are really relaxing but I also like eye patch masks.

3. A good eye make up remover is essential – it stops you from tugging at your eyes. My favourite after all this time is still Softymo.

4. I do NOT recommend using Zi drops all the time – the tingle is cool but not good for regular use but if your eyes are crazy itchy or you need a big refresh, Rohto Zi drops are amazing.

5. Finally I really love Steam Eye Masks. Primarily they are great for headaches but also very relaxing for the eyes – even nicer than a cold cucumber!

I am lucky to have good vision – not perfect 20/20 vision mind but up until now I don’t need glasses.  If you do wear glasses and dislike doing so (because you find it uncomfortable or inconvenient) there’s always treatments such as Ultralase.ie Laser Eye Treatment*to consider.

What is your vision like, and have you ever tried an eye treatment/surgery?

Do you do anything special to look after your eyes?

  1. I’m blind as a bat without my glasses/contact lens…I wish I had 20/20 vision! I’m still unsure about laser eye surgery as I’ve already been told that even if I get it done, because my eyesight is quite bad, that there’s still the chance I’d have to still wear glasses (albeit less thick glasses lol).
My fave products for eyes would be my trusty Rohto Lycee drops, and Optrex eye wash…lovely and refreshing, especially when your eyes feel a bit gunky!
I had to laugh at the bit about your optician telling you your eyes were “full of glitter” :D

    • Hi Jen

Yeah she really said that! She said that I didn’t have anything serious HOWEVER she could see lots of make up in there. Tut. Good old Optrex I need to stock up actually !

  2. I have also always thought that your eyes were such a beautiful and unusual amber color. You don’t see that a lot around where I come from :)

I’ve worn glasses for almost a decade now and have never tried wearing contacts. I do nothing special to take care of my eyes aside from a eye cream and makeup remover, but I did purchase eye drops recently when I realized I can’t go on without them haha. The only kind of surgery I’ve had done was to remove several eyelid cysts, and I have no idea how they got there. :P

    • Hi Kari

Oh thank you very much. People used to point it out when I was younger as most of my family have almost black eyes.

Gosh eyelid cysts – sound scary. Anything around the eyes freaks me out so much
