I lost my Marc Jacobs virginity with this lipstick – the New Nudes Sheer Gel Lipstick is a sheer, glossy selection of nude wearable colours in 7 shades in a very cute unusual oblong (is it oblong?!) shaped lip stick case. I love the weird toffee coloured packaging, it’s quite retro looking and heavy weight at the same time with a satisfying magnetic click when you close it.
What they say: Breaking the mould of traditional nude lipstick with its innovative gellified formula that glides effortlessly over lips, the unique formula lays down subtle shades with a sleek shine finish. Velvet-like monoi butter, derived from the tropical Tiaré flower, delivers supreme moisture while nourishing myrrh extract and antioxidant vitamin E fight signs of ageing.
Now this was given to me in the shade Eat Cake – WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU!? It’s an absolutely beautiful pinky strawberry souffle type shade, like icing fondant. It’s beautiful. The lady who I saw in this has darker skin than me but it didn’t look ashy (like these creamy milky pinks can do on warmer skintones) it just looks lovely- quite natural but glossy and very healthy and juicy on the lips.
I wouldn’t say these are “sheer” though. One swipe leaves quite a decent amount of colour although it is not as pigmented as some of these current in trend matte totally opaque shades.
I have had this for quite a few months now and it has faithfully sat in my make up bag and I forgot to review it which is just not right! For this is a glam, chic but also laid back lip colour that is perfect for people who want a my lips but better type of colour is a glossy and creamy formula. The benefit of this kind of texture is that it makes the lips look REALLY good. Whilst mattes are fun, this hydrating soft lipstick makes even the driest lips look plump, full and healthy.
Sorry for my gormless expression. This colour is quite foolproof so I can swipe this on easily without too much bother and it’s flattering enough to wear every day.
Lovely. If this is too nude for your there’s a selection of 7 shades so there might be something else you like. I’ll definitely get another one of these if I am ever in London.
You can buy this lipstick from Harrods for £24.
