Over Christmas I did well to avoid sales and unnecessary purchases, although I was tempted by the online SpaceNK sale (which was pretty good if you got there early enough)! I ended up with this Kiehl’s skincare set which was half price (it was around £27 I paid in the end) for four full sized items!
I have a soft spot for Kiehl’s products so this was a really nice chance to try them out with 50% off. The set was a Christmas gift one and came in a very sturdy red box. There is a:
75ml Ultra Facial Moisturiser
15ml Lip Balm No 1
150ml Ultra Strength Hand Salve
125ml Creme de Corps
I’ve had a chance to use everything now so here are some mini reviews…
First of all Creme de Corps!
I was so excited for this product – basically I have wanted to try this forever but it’s pretty expensive and I rarely splash out on body moisturisers. (I usually use oils anyway). This 125ml size is usually £26 alone so the price of the whole kit was a bargain!
- Kiehl’s Creme de Corps is the most hydrating body moisturizer in the Kiehl’s line
- This Superb All-Over Body Moisturizer is enriched with the finest ingredients known to Kiehl’s for a rich elegant skin texture.
- Continued use for 10 days will provide a skin texture heretofore unattainable.
I have been using this after showers and I do love it! It has a thick texture, that reminds me of a thick mayonnaise with a subtle scent, almost creamy. It sinks into my very dry skin beautifully, disappearing rather than being tacky or sticky despite being a heavy body cream.
I used it regularly and it has made my skin super soft. On the downside I will get through this quickly as I am already using 2 big blogs per arm never mind the legs so…boo hoo…
The Lip Balm No. 1
I have actually used this product before and I wasn’t keen on it; it’s sort of like chip fat!
A favourite with Kiehl’s patrons all over the world! Helps to comfort dry feeling lips whilst offering protection from the drying effects of wind and cold weather. Contains SPF4
It’s a very plain lip balm, no airs or graces, no pigment, no fragrance but it does have a nice thick texture and it works quite well under lipstick. It’s not by any means my favourite lip balm but one I would keep in the make up bag to use before doing my make up. Would I recommend it? For £9.50 I’m not sure I would.
Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve
This is a whopping, massive hand salve! Mr has almost right away nicked this as he does with all my hand creams but I had a quick go with it; it’s got a nice ‘salve’ texture in that it’s not as thick as a cream so sinks in quickly, but isn’t as thin as a lotion. It settles quickly and is pretty decent overall although I think I prefer something with a bit of scent.
- All day care and protection.
- Forms “glove-like” protection barrier against moisture loss.
- Soothes, moisturizes and conditions skin.
It’s a intensive hand cream – Mr C says that whilst he does like this as it caused no irritation the problem is that these salves that form a ‘glove’ or barrier on the hand don’t tend to moisturise as well as the ones that really sink into the skin, for truly chapped hands.
Ultra Facial Moisturiser
I owned this a long time ago and I did really like it – I actually managed to finish it for one thing and I rarely do this with creams!
What I like about this is that it’s a really light liquid that just sinks in nicely. It’s plain, no scent, I love it’s plain-ness if I am truly honest. It makes a nice primer for foundation too.
- Our famous Ultra Facial Moisturizer is a light yet effective lotion that leaves skin feeling soft and nurtured.
- Formulated for all skin types, with Squalane, Vitamins A and Vitamin E.
My only issue with this is that it is very light so whilst this is fine for the summer, it’s no good for me right now with my parched central heating winter skin! This is staying put until the weather changes.
So that was my Kiehls haul – do you like the brand?
