No reason, other than to ogle – you know how I love gold and black combinations – well Dior’s Christmas 2010 offering, Evening Gold is right up my street.
Dior Minaudière is a clutch with make up inside. Seriously beautiful I don’t know if I would have it in me to use it.
Christian Dior was always passionate about the elegance of the Belle Epoque, with his mother’s ball gowns forever ingrained in his mind. The clutch purse captures the entire essence of the style of dress from this period. Women in the early 20th century, who did not have pockets or handbags, used little boxes that enclosed several compartments for powder, blush and lipstick.
The boxes also contained adjustable mirrors and sometimes a coin purse. The shape and form of these clutches meant that elegant women opened them in a certain way, giving them the coquettish air of their “minauderies”.
So hear it ladies, before there was The Alexa, there were Minaudières!
