Jane Iredale Pure Moist Lipstick in Theresa – Review and Swatch

Whilst Jane Iredale are well known for their mineral make up, did you know they also do colour cosmetics?  Yes? No? Well they do!

Launched in September 2013, these Pure Moist Lipsticks are a kinder option for your lips; they are hydrating colours (24 shades) that are free from synthetic preservative and FD and C dyes. They also contain orange peel wax, avocado and sunflower seed oil, and more.

I chose the shade Theresa, which is a deep rich plummy rose.  I saw this on a model and it looked very nice, not at all vampy or dark, just very elegant and juicy!

In the tube Theresa is quite dark and scary looking – not my usual kind of shade at all.

The colour is medium pigmented with a sheer touch so no need to be scared – it just leaves a subtle (but build able colour).

The texture of this lipstick is quite different – is it like a balm – no it’s not as soft. Is it like a regular lipstick – no it feels more balmy / waxy if I am honest.  I thought this would be quite creamy and spread easily but it did take a bit of warming up to get the colour going (perhaps because of the waxes and oils in this product) but once it was warmed (even if its just holding it against the lip for a few seconds) the colour spread nicely, leaving a glossy finish.  It felt slightly thick..or stodgy…can you describe a lip colour as stodgy?  Well if you can, then this is how I could describe it!

In person I would say this was a burgundy plum on me. Quite suitable for autumn.

This feels very comfortable and protective on the lips, and because it has this sort of ‘thickness’ to it, it lasts a while and doesn’t fade away too easily.  My lips have been extremely dry so it was nice to use this on a cold day – it felt like I was wearing a thick lip balm. It didn’t accentuate my dry patches but it didn’t make them fade away either, if you know what I mean!

On my lips:

Theresa is a lovely rich shade but with my current cracked lipped state, the pigment can settle a little in the fine lines and inner parts of the lips.

I like this lip colour and I would definitely buy one in the future probably in a pinker rosy shade I can wear every day.

Buy it here for a very specific £17.86.
