I couldn’t resist these four new summer colours from Holika Holika, which are part of their Jewel-light waterproof eyeliner range. They are unmistakably bright and fun – also affordable to try so I bought all four.
There is – 17. Pink Ballerina, 18. Coral Orange, 19. Emerald Green and 20. Sapphire Blue.
These differ in packaging to the regular eye pencils as they are white with the corresponding colours on the outside – I think they look rather summery!
None of these colours are shimmery, they are all creamy mattes and quite pigmented and vivid. The colours are interesting enough, definitely fun for summer.
I have used these eyeliners a few times – they aren’t exactly practical colours after all – no 20. being my most use as I am currently on a blue eyeshadow kick!
These eyeliners are definitely easy to use but lack the glide of say, Urban Decay 24/7 pencils…they take a bit more work to spread and get an even colour, maybe because they are mattes. Once they are on (and I would say they are very pigmented) they feel a bit dry – it sets and then it’s like dynamite. It is extremely long lasting especially if you layer it with eyeshadow.
I found these were not as great on my waterline as they were across the top.
I really like the Sapphire shade (20) which is a deep navy.
18 is somewhat patchy when worn on the waterline so not one I would recommend as it looks odd on the upper lash line too (I think!).
17 is also a interesting shade and I don’t mind it – (sorry I got it in my lashes above!). 19 pink is once again patchy and not one I would recommend.
Overall, I would say there are better eyeliners then these around but the colours are interesting, and they are extremely long lasting if not a little dry when set. I would recommend them for a bit of summer fun, but I wouldn’t buy this formula is say, my every day black, as I’d prefer something that works on my waterline too (ie. Urban Decay or Pixi).
What do you think of these colours?
