I am a huge fan of hair oils with my hair being as dry and over processed as it is!
Truthfully olive oil and coconut oil works really well but it’s also messy and somewhat inconvenient. I am all for trying ready made store hair oils, especially if they are full of nutrients, and also easy to wash out. I do find olive oil, for example, extremely hard to wash out of my hair.
Fushi is a Japanese sounding brand, but is actually founded in London. They have a really interesting range of skincare, health and haircare products on their site. I was sent their Really Good Hair Oil to try:
To me, an expensive hair oil should have an impressive ingredients list, which this does.
It contains the well known Moroccan Argan and Virgin Coconut oils known for their hair strengthening and smoothing properties. This has been blended with the vitamin E rich Avocado oil and Sweet Almond oil to replenish and restore shine and moisture. Added to this are the potent Ayurvedic triple infused herbs Brahmi and Neem.
So this contains the very on trend Argan oil and my favourite Virgin Coconut Oil as well as Ayurvedic herbs – Neem I have used before for a flaky scalp and Brahmi is supposed to nourish the roots. It is fragranced with Indian Jasmine essential oil.
It can be used overnight or for just 2 hours. It should be massaged into the scalp then the rest of the hair – you can use a steaming towel with it too.
The oil – looks very thick:
Something about this reminded me of Pukka Herbs Bhringaraj Oil which was so thick and heavy that it was hideous to wash off – on a looks only basis I mean.
This oil is really nice to use and easy to wash out! I used it as a treatment (never overnight, it will seriously just go everywhere and I’d wake up with cats sniffing at my head) for the scalp – lovely. Really hydrated my scalp and meant I had less flakes. I also found it left my hair really shiny and with a nice depth to my hair.
I like how this smells – it’s not outstanding, but it’s sort of lightly floral and nicer than a lot of other hair oils.
I would say that on a budget, coconut oil is still cheaper and works well. However, if like me you have scalp issues, this is a really fab oil. I make an effort to massage some in once a week and it’s worked very well, so I can avoid using medicated shampoos which can really strip colour.
The product costs £15.95 and you can buy it from the Fushi website.
