Guerlain Terracotta Inca 2011 Lip Gloss in Salsa & Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadow in Maya

I reported on Guerlain’s Terracotta collection for 2011, aptly named Inca. It is a very pretty, very sexy collection indeed!

I have 2 of the products here to look at! First up is the Terracotta Gloss in 07 Salsa:

The terracotta lip gloss looks extremely bold and bright in the tube but it is very much a sheer and shiny finish lip product. Do not be afraid of the brightness! The packaging is lovely. It’s quite lightweight, I thought it would be heavier for some reason. It’s got a sweet scent and a sheer texture which is only a tiny bit sticky – I like this because for me, it means it stays put for longer:

My colour is Salsa, a really hot pink.

The applicator is a slightly pointy shape sponge. I think it’s a good shape for getting to all corners of the mouth especially the cupid’s bow.

When this lip gloss is on the lips it really doesn’t look anything like in the tube. It’s far more sheer so if you are looking for a big bold, you will be disappointed. If you want a pretty, useable, summery juicy shade then this is for you.

On my lips – I noticed it was very hydrating and plumped my lips up:

The Ombre Fusion Cream Eyeshadows come in 3 shades – I have the darkest one, 03 Maya:

Once again, I love the packaging – in it’s frosted container I think it’s chic. I have a massive soft spot for cream eyeshadow, in any texture and form so I was excited to try this.

This is similar to a lot of cream eyeshadows and it’s very nice. It’s easy to blend, it doesn’t take much time to set. When it sets, it really does stay put nicely so works as a base or as a stand alone colour.

I’d say to get a really decent coverage you want 2 coats – luckily it doesn’t feel heavy or flake when you apply 2 layers.

Maya is described as a bronze but I’d say it’s more of a really rich chocolate brown infused with gold. It’s very nice indeed with a strong metallic edge. Is this a odd choice for summer…hmm perhaps. I would’ve loved to have seen this in a bright blue or yellow (yeah I’m odd) but you know…it’s summer!

At least this kind of shade will work all year round.

The lip gloss is £20 and the Mono Fusion eyeshadow is £20.50.

Verdict: Both nice products from Guerlain, worth a peak. Check out the collection at House of Fraser.
