Following my review of Two Spicy, a Guerlain Ecrin 2 Couleurs eyeshadow duo with an extremely pretty brown and sparkling orange combo, comes my review of Two Stylish, a petrol blue and silver combination. My previous post covers some background on this product; two generously sized colours, and a mixture of sparkles, mattes and shimmers. The combinations are very interesting but also wearable at the same time, and the whole 2 colour things makes application quite straightforward, if you’re not one for messing about with 5 colours in the morning.
Two Stylish as I mentioned before is the striking blue in this collection. From the swatches I saw an electric blue and cool light silver.
The packaging is very heavy weight and luxurious, certainly fitting with most of Guerlain’s high end products (I’ve seen a lot of £30+ product recently that are made of plastic…).
This blue…this blue is not the blue I thought it was. I pictured a bright bold electric blue which I love, similar to MAC Freshwater…that kind of family but it’s actually more unusual than that.
This blue is more of a greyish petrol blue. It is still very much a bright blue, but has a muted edge to it…like someone dropped in a dollop of grey skies, to make it this way. I couldn’t think of another blue in a VAST collection of make up this was similar too.
The silver is like a 5p coin – a bright clear colour with not glitters, with a slightly ‘dirty’ edge to it. Once again, this makes it more of a mature silver rather than a screaming loud foil silver.
I blended these two together to do day eye make up. I do love blue and I was wondering for a while if this blue actually suited me since I am so used to deep electric blues or really bold green blues.
I figured this smoky-greyish-petro-blue is really quite interesting, and although it is not my usual choice of blue, I like it! And it doesn’t make me feel like I am making a statement, like my usual electric blues do.
Texture of this palette is very smooth, blend able and soft.
Face shot to give you an idea of the colours on an olive skin tone. You can definitely intensify this if you want with more layers.
