I must admit, I haven’t tried lots from the Fenty Beauty range although I am rather taken by what I have tried – at least it tries to be fun and colourful, you know?
Fun was the first thought I had when I saw Rihanna’s 10 minute guide to make up over on Vogue, (I love her), I loved how she used the bright orange and pink on her eyes. So when the Fenty Summer Daze collection was launched, I knew I had to get something (and I don’t really splash out on expensive make up any more).
I was modest and bought 2 things which I really wanted from the collection.
FENTY BEAUTY Summer Nights Iridescent Lip Luminizer Trio (£24) is a set of three lip glosses which look pretty full size to me (there is also the Summer Days version which has brighter, fresher tones). I had no idea these were trios and had my name down for 2 of the shades, so 3 for £24?! YES PLEASE. (£8 each!).
I am totally feeling lip glosses in general and these are great. Not sticky, very shiny, smooth almost balmy texture. Not too heavy, not too light.
Snakeskin is fabulous, and the one I would have bought if they were sold as singles. This unusual green gloss is more golden with a greenish edge to it so yes, if you don’t like browns (there is a brown-ness to this) you may not like this. Also, will you wear it alone or on top of something? It looks really cool on a brownish nude, BUT on a pale day it makes me look a bit…queasy. It works if I have liquid liner on, have everything in place, know what I mean? I still love it.
Mermaid Thighs is a blue/lilac tinges gloss, perhaps more accessible because of the lilac in it for most. It looks like a silvery sheen which is quite cool but probably the one I would wear the least because it’s quite frosty and makes me look a bit…robotic? These also work really well dabbed on actually, if you don’t want the full effect, because you get this pretty, subtle shimmer on your lips.
Vaycay is another one I would have paid for separately, it’s pink with a ton of gold. It reminds me of MAC Nymphette (I think?!) which I love. It’s peachy, it’s pretty, it can be quite full on if you put a thick layer on so I am careful not to wear it at the same times as a really glittery eye (personal taste, that’s all).
FENTY BEAUTY Killawatt Foil Freestyle Highlighter Duo (£28) – this is my first duo. I love this packaging, it’s simply but I like it! The shades are very tropical and bright, a orange and hot pink. It can be worn on the cheeks or eyes which is how I have chosen to use it.
As a blush it works with a super light touch, it blends nicely anyway.
I LOVE it as an eyeshadow though! The mixture of pink and orange sounds like a nightmare but it’s really vibrant and fun, on my skin tone anyway. I would say it’s a little powdery (pigmented, sure) because if I swipe by finger over it a lot of powder tends to fly up. It’s not a problem, but it is something to mention about the formula.
Swatches – more vibrant in real life:
I don’t think I want or need anything else from this collection but Fenty managed to tempt me from my under £10 Korean make up only state, so well done Fenty.
Is there anything you love from Fenty Beauty?
