Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Cheek Rush blushers (also known as ‘Cello Shots’) are sheer gel type cheek colours that leave a pretty flush of colour on the cheeks.
I have two here to to review for you today in Pink Patent and Techno Jam.
These Pure Colour Cheek Shots come in small pump style bottles which are compact enough to carry around, and have the rare quality of being able to dispense a reasonable amount of product (I find pump blushers can sometimes push out too much). I like that the blushers have different coloured pots that show which product is inside.
Pink Patent is a milky soft pink and Techno Jam is a hot purple-pink-red which is like a clear jelly.
These are very much a jelly gel type texture which are really easy to blend in with fingers or a brush – however, I would recommend a brush because these stain quickly. Every time I have used them, I have ended up with pinky finger tips!
Despite looking quite different I would say the glow left by this blusher is similar once on the cheek – Pink Patent is softer and more rose-like and Techno Jam is more pigmented and red based, but I wouldn’t say there’s a world of difference between the hues – if I were purchasing these, just one pot would be enough.
As these are quite sheer they look natural and glow like, HOWEVER, they are build able and very quickly look quite strong on the face so it really is a case of less is more.
On my right side (sorry my head is at an angle) is Techno Jam – let this sit on your skin at your peril, it will stain and leave a blob. Pink Patent is on the right and needed 2 layers to show up. I have over applied here, this is stronger than I would wear it normally but you get an idea of the colour. On summer skin (light base and glow) it looks great.
The only thing sometimes I find with these gel type blushers they can accentuate any bumps I have on my skin – as you can see below in my current state, it does highlight this.
I prefer cream blushers over gel but I really do like these Cello Shots – for summer they are long lasting and really easy to use. I wish I could get them off my fingers a bit more easily though! Also remember they seem quite similar in hue, so you may only need to invest in one to cover you for all of summer!
