Released as a Limited Edition Lipstick earlier this year, Estee Lauder’s Pure Colour Sheer Matte Lipstick came in four shades and in a long slender tube, housing a lipstick of contraditions; it is both matte and sheer.
Usually Sheer lipsticks are glossy, Matte lipsticks are full coverage. Does sheer and matte actually work?
Here is the pretty lipstick! I have the shade Rebel which is a pretty slightly frosty medium pink.
They say: Lightweight creamy lipstick with a lustrous matte finish. Envelops your lips in rich satiny colour. Infused with fruit extracts that help lips feel hydrated. Slim “stylo” case makes precise application easy. Perfect all-in-one lipstick shapes your lips as colour glides on.
Firstly the packaging is nice enough – it’s different and I like how the case corresponds to the shade and that you can apply the colour with precision because the tip is smaller and chiselled.
The texture of this lipstick is interesting – it doesn’t feel as rich as a usual matte lipstick, it’s creamy but not melt on your lips creamy. There’s no issue applying it at all but it’s not a creamy formula to me, more satin-like.
This colour Rebel has frost in it and being that shade of pink, looks a bit funky disco!
My lips are very dry and I feel like I could’ve done with some balm underneath first (although, I thought it would ruin the matte effect). Thus it did leave my lips looking a bit more wrinkled than I like…I think you need your lips in fighting condition to wear this sheer lip colour nicely, otherwise it looks a bit dry;
Despite the above, the formula is interesting and a really nice way to do matte in a natural flattering way.
The lippe is now sold out on Estee Lauders site but it’s available on Debenhams for £19.50.
