I have my scars and marks from, well, life and living, and I haven’t always been the most careful at using the best possible serums to fade these marks. I also happen to scar quite badly – every cut and insect bite leaves something on me.
But I think that regular application of good creams and oils do fade marks – my mother in law fell on her knee where a big dark scar formed, and over the course of 16 months with daily application of Vitamin E, it faded to almost nothing. So I was quite intrigued to test these products from Dr Max Power (sounds like a police drama!) created for healthy active people (there are many supplements in this range) and some skincare items too, which is what I am reviewing today:
I know – the packaging is different to the usual stretch mark cream, but like I mentioned, the range is targeted at body conscious gym loving types. The range also uses organic ingredients.
A closer look – the cream is a thick almost mousse like cream with a mentholly smell. The scar serum is a lightweight thin moisturiser with rose hip.
Firstly I found the serum very lightweight and nice to use – no stickiness. It is very thin, and it a nice alternative if you don’t like to use pure oils on the skin (vitamin E oil of course works well for scars but is quite oily). I used this on an area where I have some marks and I felt it left the skin more supple but I am not sure it if faded existing marks much but made the area overall look smoother.
The stretch mark cream is much thicker and has that peppermint like smell to it. It sinks is fine but is greasier than the serum, naturally. This product was formulated for weight lifters, because as they bulk up the skin stretches but anyone can use it and it is safe for pregnant mums. You should only use this once a day.
Once you get past the smell (it isn’t horrible at all, but I don’t generally use creams with that menthol like smell – it reminds me of eucalptus!) this cream is a good moisturiser AND I genuinely think that it did a great job at reducing the appearance of marks I got during my pregnancy with H2 (who was double the size of H1).
The main thing I noticed was that the stretch marks, still quite fresh, stopped looking red and angry, this cream helped take it to the next stage of where it marks appear more silvery white and is therefore less obvious. I know it takes my skin a long time to heal usually but this cream really did seem to quickly help take the marks to a calmer state, if that makes sense!!! It’s the first stretch mark product I have used which I can say that about.
