You can’t go too wrong with a MAC lipstick. Even if I am not as obsessed with the brand as some others, I do really like a MAC lipstick – the range is huge, the textures interesting and they smell of vanilla, even when they are a few years old! It’s one of the few make up products I collect that I never give away or get rid of as there’s always someone out there who will eventually use it in a tutorial I like!
So…Stone and Whirl…
If I am not wrong then both of these lip sticks began life as lip liners. Both are a sort of medium brown based dead shade – works kinda, as a lip liner, but as a lip colour? Not so sure. Having said that, these brown lip colours have been made popular by Kylie Jenner of the Kardashian clan, so there you go. I personally find most brown lipsticks ugly, and dated but I guess it’s about finding the right shade for your skin tone…
Whirl is described as a ‘dirty rose’.
Stone is described as a ‘muted greyish taupe brown’.
Here they are in that order:
I don’t know if I would describe whirl as a dirty rose, but there is definitely a dirty-ness to the colour. It feels like a warm reddish brown rose to me, it’s not too bad and wearable although it does feel quite 80s!
Stone is a dead brown, it is a little grey and taupe like. It works as a lip liner but I am not sure about it as a lipstick although I have seen some people wear it fashionably, I am not one of them.
Both of these lipsticks are ‘mattes’. They have a soft matte finish and are not drying to wear so that’s a bonus. If they were super dry as well as being the colour they are, then…they would be hideous.
Whirl – that kind of soft bruised lip colour. Can’t say I’d carry this one around with my but I don’t hate it:
Stone is pretty terrible on me – it looks so grey on and is a little bit too fashionable for my liking – interesting maybe but flattering? Neigh. But clearly, someone trendier than I will rock this colour and rock it well.
Having said that I would keep hold of it in case I see someone doing a tutorial with this colour that looks nice.
Ar £15.50 MAC Lipsticks are relatively well priced. I have yet to finish a single lipstick out – they seem to last quite a long time too!
