Ah! I’ve had this Darphin cleanser FOR-EVER and since it is on it’s last legs, it must mean it’s time to give it a review before it goes to empty skincare heaven.
Darphin is a French Skincare brand, one of those high end, luxurious spa feel brands, not unlike Decleor, Elemis et al. The other brands stand out more to me, but Darphin should not be ignored! They have some really lovely products. Like this – Aromatic Cleansing Balm with Rosewood. I do love a nice cleansing balm.
I find most cleansers, many types, make my dry skin feel tight after washing, which I hate. With cleansing balms I experience the least dryness afterwards.
They say: Rapturous aromatic pleasure engulfs you as this opulent balm with Marula Oil, Sage, Ylang Ylang and Rosewood Essential Oils, entraps impurities, nourishes, and relieves tightness. Magically transforms with water into a silky, non-oily, non-comedogenic milk to leave skin pristinely clean, and looking smooth, supple and luminously radiant.
Basically; it smells lovely. It does smell lovely, like herbal-roses-balm-flower-happiness-mothersmilk. It smells like a spa, basically.
This Darphin one is pretty unique in terms of it’s texture, it doesn’t remind me of any other cleansers I have tried, it very ‘balmy’, and buttery. It reminds me a oily textured lip balm – it isn’t firm, it doesn’t need warming up at all and it almost has a sticky feeling. When you’re applying it, it’s like…will this actually come off my face or will I be walking around looking like David Cameron with a super shiny face all day?
But don’t worry! It turns into a lovely milky texture and washes off easily.
It is a very nice skin cleanser indeed for people who like balms, like the herbal type smell and enjoy using cleansers to massage. If you don’t, if you rinse off right away then it’s a bit of a waste – this is a cleanser to be enjoyed.
Any complaints? Well, I have had this for AGES because I’ve been testing so many cleansers, but with solid daily use, it wouldn’t last for long and at around £30, it’s not cheap. It does cleanse well though and doesn’t leave the skin feeling dry.
You can buy this from Lookfantastic – it seems to retail at £32 on other sites.
