I gave up selling on Ebay the day that I got a £180 fee for selling relatively few items, and then I was told I wasn’t allowed to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Sure, some buyers are great. But some are vindictive too. Instead I use it for buying and rarely selling and let me tell you, its much easier on the buying end (except you have to pay, of course!).
Now, with the new system in place sellers have to be scrupulous. I for one, have always over described things because there is nothing more irritating then someone who emails you saying
“There was a mark on the box the size of a grain of rice and I’m not happy!”
I tend to clarify things when I buy. I want to know everything.
So I got some NEW, allegedly items from Ebay which are:
Nars Nicaragua Lipstick – A pink coral – gorgeous!
Nars Multiple in Wakiki – now discontinued and is a very rich dark bronze
Nice products, both of them.
Here’s the thing. Both products were described as NEW. One came in a box. I emailed both people to ask if the items had been tested, they said no.
Now come on – I’ve seen enough NEW cosmetic items to know what the surface of a new make up item looks like if it hasn’t be tested – its not something you can rectify after you have swiped it on the back of your hand. Trust me, I can spot a swipe from a mile off.
The lipstick had clearly been swiped a few times – I’d estimate 5, and had a small chip in the side. Yes it came in a box which had been beaten to an inch of its life.
The multiple came in a tube which look like it had sweated it out for too long in someone’s car. It had a funny slick on it which needed disinfecting (ahem) and had been tested, had a chip in it and even worse, it had a crack in the case.
Yes, I will keep it but only because it is discontinued.
Why do people who sell used, tested or somewhat damaged makeup think they can get away with it! To be fair a lot of these sellers have less than 100 feedback but when I was selling, I would mention every single little thing.
It’s a good job I have the patience of a saint otherwise it would be complainarama time….
