Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation Review

Regular readers know that I am 20% human and 80% zombie. Why? Lack of sleep, my dears, what do you expect with all the blogging I do? Anyway, its something which I am gradually getting better at…

Meanwhile, Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation is something I am trying out to imitate the look of having lots of Zzzz’s:

Oh kitty kat, I am so envious of your endless dozing.

Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation is supposed to:

– Conceals signs of fatigue, dark circles, imperfections

And is enriched with Vitamins E, B5 (more about this in another post) and minerals.

I actually bought this because there was so much positive chatter about it from other Blogging ladies. I am a bit of a foundation snob (base products in general) so I never go browsing make up stands for foundations.

However recently being a sucker, I have been exploring more affordable brands.

Bourjois base cost me about £8 so its not THAT cheap but its not exactly heart wrenching like buying my La Mer foundation was.

The consistency of the 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation is quite watery – its oil free I believe, and is fairly ungreasy.

Its great that theres no oil but its a little too thin for me. For one thing, I need the hydration for my dry, dry skin so I prefer something thicker.

I also need coverage for the redness on my skin and this was a little too sheer. I need to layer a few layers to cover the red patches (brought up by dryness).

The other issue is that it didn’t last on me. By late lunchtime, all my blemishes and red bits were there, beaming back at me.

On my skin – the result is glowy and dewy which I do like:

The foundation is lightly scented. I kind of like the smell.

Verdict:

Let’s do a pro and cons.

Pros:

- Dewy natural finish
- Makes the skin look brighter

Cons:

- Too sheer for me (coverage insufficient)
- Didn’t last more than 4 hours on my skin

If you already have good skin, this would be a nice choice for you. If you like the glowy look but want more coverage I would recommend the Boots No. 7 Lift & Luminate Foundation as it gives that dewy look with more hydration and coverage.

I don’t browse the makeup aisles for foundation anymore. Not because I’m a snob, but because not one of them has a foundation shade pale enough for me! I did try this a couple of years ago but alas, it was too orange.

Ooh, good timing! I was literally just about to go and check this out because the lightest shade looked like it good be a contender for my super pale skin (I’ve been using Revlon Colorstay but the price doesn’t agree with me).
But if it’s not long lasting and doesn’t cover redness, then it’s too weedy for me. Oh well Bourjois, I was almost interested!

may i ask what’s your MAC shade match and the shade of the Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation you chose?

I have used this before and it did not last on me as well, I find that it either melted or disappears by lunchtime so even though I like the scent of it, the coverage and texture were fine for me too, and this is still remembered as my first foundation that I finished a bottle of, it’s not something I’d repurchase now. =) I used to wear No. 53
