During my recent house move I uncovered a lot of product I had forgotten about/was hidden under a ton of stuff – one of them was this this Aromatherapy Associates massage oil; the Support Supersensitive Massage and Body Oil.
This body oil is so gentle and soothing that it’s suitable for babies from 3 months old.
They say; ‘English camomile, apricot kernel and jojoba oils soften, condition and moisturise…eases itchiness from dry and irritated skin. Apply to skin after bathing. For more intense hydration layer over appropriate body gel’.
The packaging of this product is luxurious and befitting of the high end status – the box and the heavy weight frosted bottle is very elegant. The oil itself is richly colour (yellow) and has a really lovely thick rich oil texture – not too thin (which I personally dislike).
I opened this specifically to use it on Baby H. There are two baby oils that I frequently use on Baby H – Melvita’s (£12.50) which is really lovely but the dropper bottle is a bit frustrating – and Burts Bees Nourishing Oil (£9.99) which smells amazing but is weaker when it comes to hydrating the skin.
So really, I wasn’t really looking for another oil for Baby H – but I wanted something to give him after bath massages with.
This oil has quite an adult smell – it’s primarily of Chamomile which is a mellow scent and not for everyone. I wasn’t too keen but it has genuinely grown on me and it’s a more subtle ‘send you to sleep’ scent than lavender (especially for a little boy).
H is quite impatient with my massages (believe it or not!) but he sort of settled nicely when I gave him a shoulder and back massage….before I knew it, it was 15 minutes! He smelt nice, was nice and soft and was ready for a sleep.
The other thing I noticed which does not happen with the other oils I use on H, is that it genuinely hydrated the skin. The next day, his skin felt beautifully soft (he has dry skin) which I was pretty happy about. The thickness of this oil means its lovely to massage with, and it sinks in quite nicely despite it being rich.
This is my new favourite oil to use on Baby H. Maybe one day I will have time to use this on myself!
If I had any criticism of this lovely it, it would be the price (this oil costs £40 – ouch!) and that the pump if you use it, then lay it on it’s side (like on the bed after you’ve applied it), it tends to leak a small amount, thus leaving a little oil patch on your sheets!
You can buy it here. Why does my favourite oil have to be so dear!
