I wrote about my decision to ditch aluminium deodorants so since then I’ve continued to try out new suitable deodorants when I come across them.
One thing you have to get used to when you ditch the aluminium is that fact you will sweat more and feel more ‘wet’ (ahem) but at least you don’t smell. Here are two new additions I am really enjoying.
Deodorant no. 1 is a bit specific – Yorkshire Lavender (£7.95) which I purchase when I visited recently (so gorgeous if you are in to fresh open spaces and lavender!). I noticed it was Alum free so I figured I would give it a go although I am not necessarily someone who would choose lavender as a body scent.
I am pretty happy with this. It smells like lavender but not old lady like – it is quite a fresh, essential oil type of Lavender as oppose to a grannyish smell. I quite like it, it reminds me of visiting spas. The deodorant is clear and feels quite refreshing on the skin and it didn’t sting me. It also kept me smelling quite fresh during the day.
Pure Potions Lemon Myrtle Deodorant (£8.99) is probably more of a universally appealing scent. It’s a beautiful fresh lemon without being soft. It is free of aluminium, paragons, triclosan an phthalates. It has a creamy lotion like texture to it and maybe because it is thicker than a regular roll on, you have to work it a bit more to get the product out. This product is 99% natural which is quite impressive – it also is good for dry skin or people with eczema.
A big issue I had with previous natural deodorants is that they made my armpits react or blocked my pores (despite not having alum). So far I am really happy with these two roll ons as they haven’t caused any reaction or darkening of my armpits. If this changes, I will update you on this but so far I am enjoying bother of these.
