A dabble with LOLA Cosmetics – Eyeshadow Palette, Lipgloss and Nail Polish Review

Lola is a new British designed make up collection (made in Italy) that launched in September 2013 and is sold at M&S (who have a pretty interesting beauty haul these days!). The range is fairly large with 307 products and seasonal launches on the way – there’s certainly a lot of colours to play with!

I have a selection her which I have been trying!

LOLA make up comes in simple classic black packaging. Whilst it isn’t particularly eye catching or arresting, it is classic and gimmick free.

The first product I tried is an eyeshadow quad in Sambre De Ojos – a lovely purple palette. I do have a thing for purples it has a special place in my heart so it’s nice to find a palette with a true purple in it.

This palette has a pale lilac, a pale pink, violet and a deep plum-black.  All the colours are quite soft and nice, wearable kind of shades.

I also have the lipgloss in Brillo De Labious 020 which is a super shimmery rose.

The colours are soft semi-matte with little shimmer.  This palette is a good beginners purples I think – I prefer stronger deep rich purples and metallics, so I guess this was a bit ‘soft’ for me, although I have to say it didn’t really lack pigment once applied to my eyes.

On my eye;

The lip gloss is a really pretty interesting colour.  The texture is neither super thick nor thin – it certainly leaves decent colour on the lips and feels quite hydrating.  This particular colour is lots of fun because it’s like a cool rosy colour with a metallic edge but the shimmer in it is actually blue! I love blue glitter in pink lip products.

Swatch:

The swatch doesn’t do it justice I am afraid.

On my lips on top of pale pink lipstick – it adds a subtle shimmer:

Once the top layer had disappeared, you could really see the shimmer underneath which was left by the gloss!

The lip gloss has only a slightly sweet scent which is not overpowering or horrible at all.

The nail polish is excellent – I applied just one coat to my toes (I AM SORRY MY FINGERS WERE BUSY WITH A GEL POLISH!) and the colour was bright enough to just leave at that. Once dried, I had a nice glossy finish (no top coat) and it really is lasting so very well.

Verdict:

I have been using these products for a little while now and I do think they are good quality – I particularly like this shade of lip gloss, and the polish is great quality too.  I would definitely go back and see what the range has to offer.

See Marks & Spencer here for Lola cosmetics. Prices vary; the lip gloss is £10, eyeshadow palettes are £26 and nail polish is £8.
