Chinese people buy too much stuff, Selfridges has to call in the Cavalry

I remember having a conversation not so long ago with a SA on a Japanese make up brands’ counter in Selfridges, where she told me that Chinese customers were great because they usually shopped in groups, and bought in force ‘without even asking the price’. As she was saying this, 3 young Chinese girls were jabbering on in Mandarin, in matching puffa jackets, and swatching nail polishes to their hearts content. I looked around and […]

Eye Base, Eye Gloss, Eye Concealer! Mary Quant Eye Gloss Treatment Eye Foundation Review

So the last time I was down in London I spent a lot of time in the Mary Quant shop and ended up with some really cool products! One of the items I had on my hit list was their Eye Gloss. Eye Gloss? Who remembers Calvin Klein’s make up range and how they had a eye gloss. LOVE the concept, hate the results. I was a bit disappointed when I found out this Eye […]

Aube Couture Designing Impression Eyes Eyeshadow Palette 553 Review & Swatches!

Aube disappeared a few years ago and became Aube Couture, quite a grown up range of cosmetics which a chic, elegant edge.  I like their products although they are made for the grown up lady so everything is quite muted and subtle. I purchased one of their new Designing Impression Eyes in 554 which is a purple set.  As with a lot of Japanese compacts, it’s packed full with 5 colours, a mirror and 4 […]

Dove Hair Therapy Intensive Repair Mask & Overnight Creme Review – Part 2

I have mentioned before that when it comes to conditioners I tend to go for high street ranges because they give me the smoothest hair in the shortest amount of time. Dove recently introduced two new additions to their Intensive Repair range, a Mask and Overnight Crème. The Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair range includes patented Micro Moisture Serum™ and Fibre Actives™ to internally reconstruct hair and prevents split ends and breakage. The Intensive Repair […]

Dove Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo & Conditioner Review Part 1

Frizz – can’t live with it, can’t live…with it. I once was a smooth haired girl, but that was many moons ago.  The last decade of hardcore hair dyeing, perms and straightening treatments means that without a decent shampoo and conditioner, my hair is basically a mass of frizzy brown fluff. I need conditioner.  The most effective ones I find are not the pricey ones I find.  Dove’s Nourishing Oil Care Shampoo and Conditioner range […]

Japan Haul featuring Love Clover, Addiction, Canmake, Kiss and SANA!

My lovely friend in Japan helped me out with a haul – yep, about twice a year (I think!) I get this urge to try out make up from Japan which isn’t that easily available. We had a bit of a disaster with nail polish (apparently you can’t send them via airmail) but we got there in the end! I have had mixed results with Love Clover (from B&C Labs) products but I noticed their […]

Nude and Trendy! Tony Moly Trendy Nail Polish Haul & Swatches!

I wonder if you can suddenly catch a beauty disease?  I think I have temporarily dropped the lipstick disease for the nail polish one.  I can’t stop buying them! I generally favour bright shades, like hot pinks and corals – they look best with my skintone although I am growing to like these sort of dirty muted nudes too.  These are the shades you’d buy jumpers in right? For work? Tony Moly polishes are lovely, […]
