It’s almost criminal to buy your first lipstick from Bésame and not choose one of their stunning hot reds, but I was in a sensible mood for once. Here is my first every Bésame lipstick in Debutante Pink (which on the swatch looked like the most natural pink…. Let’s get the size thing out of the way – these lipsticks are Retro and Vintage = Teeny. It makes my already large hands look (as my […]
Archives for September 2009
In my dreams I have long, lush eyelashes that point towards the sky rather than sad little floppy things. Alas, it was not to be…so that’s why we have lash primers: Urban Decay Eyelash Primer Potion!…the brush is a traditional bristle and the texture is thick and white: Does it work? See after the jump!
Urban Decay have just launched these Ink For Eyes Cream Eyeliners in the UK – five shades (we are missing Pyrotechnic, a sparkly white which the US ladies have). Check out the imagery, which is super hot: It’s make up like that makes me want to walk around with my eyes closed…. Here are my beauties! The most obvious things about this is the unusual shape of the packaging (reminds me of Bourjois Ombre Streettccchhh […]
Bésame is a lovely retro-esque brand created by Gabriela Hernandez – you can read all about the brand here, but if I were were to use three words to describe that brand it would be: Dainty, Golden and Elegant. I got a lipstick and lipgloss in my first order – I am looking at the lip gloss first: It’s hard to choose a make up item when all you have is a dulux paint style swatch, […]
…that is a lot of p’s. Urban Decay has some stonking new products out for Autumn 2009 – I got my mitts on some of them (there’s always good offers on at Boots). One of the first products I am reviewing is the Urban Decay Pore Perfecting Primer (£15.00): UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion) is of course one of the first and most coveted eyeshadow primers out there. These days there are a few great […]
HEATHER! You won! email me your address asap! rowena AT cosmetic-candy.com Thanks to all who entered!
I am having computer upgrades today so it will be a little quiet, but business will resume tomorrow! Excuse the glitches, my bit….lovelies. X
Beginning today its the new Swatch of the Day series to celebrate the glory of the swatch! My goal is to produce swatches of items that are harder to find on the net and product high quality, clear, studio quality swatches. What good is a swatch you can’t even see, right? A labour of love or a pain in the ass? Like a newborn baby, it has been both. Until everything is ready, I shall […]
Cleansing Oil? Been there done that. Name the brand and I’ve tried it. I began with Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil many moons ago and went through the various types they have (Green Tea is the nicest) then on to DHC and Fancl, then my current favourite RMK. Inbetween, other brands (many Japanese ones, plus some western brands such as Laura Mercier) decided to join the cleansing oil club. The original idea belongs to Shu Uemura […]
The Body Shop kindly sent me a bottle of their new scent (more about this later) called Love Etc. but I keep calling it Love Actually… Advertising for Love Etc. or the new Bewitched video?* *Click here at your peril. I won’t pay medical bills for bleeding ears. I am no good at dissecting scents, but I can tell you if I like something or not. When I am on the perfume counter I spritz, […]
These little chocolate truffle-cum-lip balm/glosses have been around for a while now, but I was recently gifted this cute little trio: Three plastic lip truffles (what would they be? White chocolate, Chcolate Nut and something gross like coffee-fudge?) that come in little paper cups too! How quaint! Well you know it is nearly Christmas, so perhaps you’d like this set as a little prezzie…
I discovered a super pretty and organic range called Kate Logan a while ago and got a few things to try out. One of the items was the Aroma Balm… Aroma Balms incorporate the power of aromatherapy into a scented balm you can apply to the pulse point etc. I am all for natural scents and anything that is portable so I picked one – Daring – there are other scents including; Awaken, Blissful, Clarity, […]
I ran out of my beloved Nars Mud mask a while ago and haven’t had a chance to pick it up so I decided to try something different. I tend to prefer: 1. Creamy masks as opposed to sheet masks or gel/peel off ones. 2. Ones that dry rather than stay wet on the skin 3. Deep cleansers as opposed to hydrating masks I also have highly, highly sensitive skin and if it doesn’t like […]
I heard some good things about Etude House, a Korean brand’s line of make up brushes. They are pretty affordable, and I paid from £4.50-£8 for the brushes on eBay. I got four brushes, a fiber brush, a cream shadow brush, a contour and a brow brush. The brushes are quite obviously synthetic hair and have quite short handles. I haven’t used cheap make up brushes in an age..there’s nothing worse then applying your make […]
I went for a Jinny Tattoo a few weeks ago, which the girls adored, so I bought a home glitter tattoo kit to play with from eBay (item here for £22 – free shipping and they sent it with EMS which is a bonus). So, here are some pics of the tattoos I did on Megan (aged 9) and the older one. Megs chose a dragon: That’s her belly….
Blame Ugly Betty Everything about the Musical, Wicked, made me want to hate it. The cheesy excerpts of songs from the show that I had heard on Ugly Betty, the fact that Elphaba’s name comes from The Wizard of Oz creator, L. Frank Baum’s name (L.F.B = El-pha-ba = cheesy and corny). I booked tickets to see the London show because they were the cheapest tickets I could find for a musical (£15 for the […]
1. Clinique Superbalanced Make Up I know the concept is not new (Smashbox’s Halo powder is also a shave off product – and Elizabeth Arden’s) but there’s someting about the Clinique one I like the look of. It’s also cheaper than the Halo powder, and comes with a useful brush (Arden’s comes with a sponge).
I couldn’t resist these super pretty Coffret D’or Mix Essence Rouge Lip Glosses! They are sparkly and have a two tiered effect going on. I bought two colours, red and brown as they seemed the most pigmented: How long will these lipglosses remain looking separated? Well I hope quite long, because that’s reason I bought them! Brown 08:
I had a major buying something for no good reason at all day, when I brought home YSL’s offering, the Perfect Touch Foundation. It comes with an attached brush, you see, and I am a sucker for ‘on the go’ type products. I am waiting for the brush to start stinking the way that the brush on Touche Eclat does – that awful, putrid vinegar smell….anyway, I know what you’re thinking. An ejaculating foundation? Well […]
Lavshuca by Kanebo, is one of the reasons why I fell so hard in love with make up, yet the brand has been missing the point, so to speak, for quite a few seasons. I have skipped a lot of the last few collections because they looked repetitive and somewhat dull. But hey! The new palettes for Autumn sure look pretty: I choose BU-1 which I paid about £10 for from Adambeauty: There’s no doubt […]
