Welcome to a full week of eyeliner reviews from my latest finds from March 2011! Each review will be number 1 – 7.
One of my favourite types of liquid eyeliner is the refillable cartridge type, because you can control how much ink flows through. I have the Shiseido one and the Shu Uemura which I love but after 3 refills, the brush as started to fray.
So I bought this one from Aube Couture - a mid-high end brand from Sofina. Their stuff is very pretty but very sensible – proper work make up type colours:
I bought the liner and a refill in BK711. If you buy the pen you automatically get a refill with it.
The pen is nice – the holder is a metallic pink and it’s heavyweight like the Shiseido and Shu ones. If this is supposed to last then it has to be well made!
The clicky mechanism is fine too – the Shu Uemura one had a habit of not properly clicking which made it hard to predict how much ink was flowing through.
Here is what the pen looks like inside – it works like a fountain pen:
It takes a good few presses (you can hold down the clicker) for the ink to flow through. It looks like this in the process:
Even though I love these kinds of eyeliner this one didn’t hit the spot for me. The ink itself is a murky soft black – I prefer a deep dark black so I found this too wishy-washy. On top of this I don’t feel like the liner spread as nicely as it could’ve – application was slightly blotchy.
Using the thick side of the brush you get the bottom line, using the tip you get the fine line:
Verdict:
Whilst I highly recommend these refillable eyeliners for people want a really easy peasy eyeliner, this one was not the best. Give it a miss.
Score: 1.5/5

omg I’m such a numpty, I’ve never realised that you can click to get more ink out of the Shu Uemura penliner! Now I’ll be able to get more juice out of it lol
Thanks for reviewing Row, sticking to my Shu one for now
