Kate Middleton loves black eyeliner and so do I. You can’t beat a good black eyeliner, it can be used as dramatically or naturally (i.e. just between the lashes) as you like!
I have always been a big fan of the 24/7 Urban Decay pencil range (I am sure I nearly have all the colours) – what I did not know was that there are a lot of varieties of black eyeliner if various consistencies and formulas. Because let’s face it…we are all different!
I have gone through phases of loving black gel liner to moving to gel pencil liners because they’re easier to apply on the go. I also always have a black liquid pen liner with me because I like the effect it gives. I probably use kohl type liners the least and powder ones, only because I find they take a bit more time to apply.
Now! What do Urban Decay have to show us in the Black Eyeliner Melee?
Super Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner (£16)
This is a VERY black, pigmented black eyeliner. It has a medium thick texture, which I don’t mind. I find overly ‘wet’ gel liners take too long to set anyway. It also works well with the Perversion Angled Brush (£12) which is made for this liner and works well for lining the lid.
The 3 other black liners are:
24/7 Velvet Glide On Eyeliner in Black Velvet (£15) which is a more smokey-powder like finish – it is made for smudging and blending.
Ink for Eyes Precision Pen (£15) is a glossy liquid liner just how I like them – it resembles a pen, which in my mind makes it MUCH easier to draw with. It’s just like using a pen!
All Nighter Eyeliner (£15) is what I would call a gel liner in a pencil form and is my most used type of liner. It works very well for tight lining.
Swatches – sorry forgot the gel but it’s errrr…black.
