Man, my hair was making me depressed. After my last cut and colour I was left with straggly hair that was PURPLE. It was PURPLE, it was supposed to be blonde. It doesn’t help that I have about 10 seconds to do my hair each day. So off to the wizards at Trevor Sorbie Covent Garden I went with dreams of a lob type beachy ombre wavy hair look.
The Trevor Sorbie brand is of course, huge. There are salons in Covent Garden, Brighton, Manchester, Hampstead and Richmond. The Covent Garden salon is 2 floors and spacious; when I visited it was bustling but relaxed at the same time.
As soon as you go in there’s nice waiting area with cake – CAKE! – for you to help yourself to. It’s all very comfortable which I like – while I don’t like salons that are falling apart I don’t like places where the atmosphere is snooty either – TS is super relaxed and the staff are attentive and look after you. I think I literally had about 6 cappuccinos (early start, don’t ask).
The consultation was speaking to both the colourist, Marley and stylist, Petros together – I loved that because I have had some cut and colours where there seemed to be very little communication – I also like that people with different skills were doing my hair.
So here is the before!
My hair was very heavy and was overdue a cut and fresh colour.
The colour came first and was done in the basement – quieter that way you see away from all the hairdryers – and the lovely Marley started working on my hair placing foils strategically over my head. I explained the type of colour I wanted – bleach blonde without being brassy but in all honestly I wasn’t sure if I would be able to get that kind of hair colour because
a. We didn’t have that much time
b. Because of the last purple haired disaster.
But everything was ok (you will see at the end). Like I said earlier the whole process was really relaxed (probably the most relaxing hair colour ever?!) and Marley was lovely company to chat too and I was constantly topped up with coffee….muhahahaha. What’s not to love?!
They have all the nice touches in here. The nice chairs at the backwash where you can put your legs up (COMFY) and they also ask if you want a head massage (YES! ALWAYS A YES!) which is lovely and relaxing. Then back upstairs we go……
I told Petros that I wanted to grow my hair but we both agreed my hair was currently very heavy and needed thinning out. Also – the thing I’ve wanted for ages but hairdressers have failed to give me is a slanted hair look where my hair is longer at the front, and Petros actually suggested this (AND DID IT!) to keep the look quite modern.
I was really super happy with my new hair – the cut, the colour – perfect. Just what I asked for, really easy going, wavy hair that’s easy to look after too. The colour was spot on which did surprise me because it only took a few hours to achieve and Marley even gave me some tips on how to tone it at home (so I don’t get purple hair again).
Here’s a picture a few days later just to show the cut and colour!
I am super duper happy – trust me, it’s harder than you think getting exactly what you want at the hairdressers but it was effortless at Trevor Sorbie. I can’t think of anything I disliked about the entire experience, I was out in 3 hours (I have spent 6 hours in a salon before getting a similar thing done) so very happy with that.
