Touch in Sol; I’ll Get You Lip Stain and Solid Duo Gel Eyeliner Review

It’s always very interesting to get a selection of products from a new brand (as in, new to me!) as there are no preconceptions about the products.

Touch in Sol (‘a touch of sunshine and solutions’) is a bit of Konglish (Korean-English) is a Korean manufactured and designed brand currently sold in Korea and in the US. I was sent a selection products to try so I’ll review them over the next few weeks.

First up is the Gel Eyeliner and Lip Stain duos:

Touch in Sol Lip Stain gel eyeliner

The packaging is very cute, and very Korean! It reminds me of Etude House and maybe a bit of The Face Shop. It has that ‘look’ which to me looks more Korean than Japanese.

The shades: No. 3 – Baby Pink, No. 2 – Latte Brown/Champagne Gold Gel Liner, No. 4 – Vanilla Peach

Each product comes with an applicator brush which I personally thought was ok, but I’d rather use my own brushes.

Each product comes in a sturdy jar:In touch sol illget you lip stain gel eyeliner

The lip stains are split and come with a cream stain and a sheer lip balm in the other section.  The colours are supposed to be vivid and long lasting, whilst keeping the lips glossy and healthy via the balm. The gel eyeliner duo comes with a deep and highlight shade. The highlighter shade can be used under the eye to highlight or they can be used as eyeshadows. Once set they don’t run or fade. All of these retail at $18 each.

A look at the colours:

I wasn’t sure what to expect from these, purely because a lot of Korean brands are similar to Japanese in that they can run somewhat sheer in colour and lack pigmentation.

Swatches (lip balm on the left, stain on the right):

First off the gel eyeliner – it’s quite nice and creamy, and I don’t have an issue with the pigmentation but unfortunately I didn’t feel like it set too well on me. The brown line smudged and I ended up with a bit under my eye. I am much more likely to use this as a base and put powder shadow on top as I think powder would adhere nicely to it.

The lip stains! At first I was like..hmm…then I decided…I do like them! They’re quite different from anything else I have.

The texture is super soft and creamy, and it applies like a creamy lipstick, although it’s actually a matte finish. The colours both are quite light and ‘creamy’ or ‘milky’ which is quite popular with Asian brands.  This means though, that it isn’t for everyone – sometimes that milky edge can look a bit too contrived and ‘I’m-trying-to-be-a-Kardashian’.

With some balm on top, the look softens and becomes more wearable.

Stain wise, it does leave some pigment on the lips – it lasts like this for around 4-5 hours without needed a touch up. Be wary what you eat – anything oily seems to make it fade quickly then it looks patchy.

Baby Pink (just the stain):

It is more drying than it looks which is why I would recommend the balm on top. Its matte after all and sits in the lines a little. Moisturise before hand!

Vanilla Peach:

Once again, I imagine ideally someone paler than me (NC30-35) would wear this because otherwise it can look washed out.

I still really like the textures though, they are interesting and it’s nice to have a matte finish ‘milky’ nude lip colour for a change.

What do you think of Touch in Sol so far?
