Despite the fact that The Estee Edit as only been around for around a year, it was announced in June 2017 (last month – its July 02nd at this moment in time, give me a chance to catch up) that the entire line is being discontinued. The range will be removed from Selfridges in November 2017 and taken offline by the end of the year. I noticed there was 30% off which is rare of Estee Lauder, which was a sign of what was to come.
Now – The Estee Edit range, fronted by Kendall Jenner was clearly a way of targeting the younger market. I get what it was trying to do – I think the packaging, in the cool silver with splashes of blue is stunning, and yet I never really saw that much of the range being talked about or cited as ‘must haves’. I also have nothing at all against the Kardashian/Jenner clan but I am not sure I would’ve chose Kendall as the main face – I would’ve preferred an actor, a musician, a writer – someone I know for a reason.
Anyway. 30% off. I am lucky enough to have tried some lovely make up from the brand thanks to blogging and yet I have never bought anything from the range – until now.
The product I decided to stock up on is the Metallishadows, which are cream eyeshadows combined with a complementary loose pigment. I didn’t go for anything else because I don’t really know much about the range other than the samples I have been sent and I didn’t want to buy for no reason. The White Mud exfoliating face mask is a free gift Mr C got when I sent him in for ONE of the eyeshadows. Seriously – send your man in to buy the make up, he always gets given a load of free stuff when he buys things for me!
So these are £12.50 in the sale which is very reasonable. I actually dug out the one I already have, Solar Blast, a gilded chocolate recently and ADORE it for a quick glam eye. It also sticks well and lasts all day long.
*Side note: I am not too impressed with EL’s online service. I ordered another eyeshadow from them and I check a week later to see why it hadn’t arrived and there was nothing on my account. Phoned up and it had sold out but they didn’t bother to tell me and I had to ask them to refund it! Crazy!
The shades are:
06 Wild Cosmos – Electric Royal Blue cream, metallic blue pigment
07 Light Speed – Beige Peach cream, sparkly beige sheen pigment
09 Lunar Orbit – Taupe Brown bream, cool toned silvery brown pigment
Here’s the good thing about these, apart from what I have already said – they are highly pigmented and long lasting – the colours (apart from Wild Cosmos) are highly wearable too. I mean sometimes pigments are a little wild…these are definitely intense but totally wearable and not OTT. Light Speed in particular would work as a daytime eye, no problems and for most skin tones.
If you want these, act fast. I still want Meteor Shower (she shade Estee Lauder didn’t sell me). I think they’re a great price as £12.50. On a side note the white mud mask is BRILLIANT – typically it won’t be around any more in fact I can’t find it online either!
