The Body Shop Lip Roll On is a fairly new release, and is a ‘natural’, oil base lip product – it’s a lip moisturiser, a lip gloss, it’s all sorts of multi tasking usefulness-ness.
It comes in 5 flavours, Berry, Coconut, Orange, Rose and Mint. I was sent 2 flavours to try, Coconut and Orange and you get 10ml per roll on:
Roll on lip balms aren’t new but they aren’t that common either. I like the idea of a rollerball product although they can be quite pesky to use – the product comes out unevenly or at its worse the ball gets stuck AND it can get a bit gunky and gross.
On the plus side, no one will be asking you if they can have a bit of lip balm….what? No one ever asks you that?!
The lip roll on is quite an oily one, it’s not sticky or waxy at all.
When it comes to the texture it really is each to their own. Some people like the oily, fairly light, sits on top of the lip feel, which is what I think this product has. On the plus side, this means it looks glossy, the lips look smooth and shiny and it feels like it’s really protecting because it leaves a layer of oil on the lips.
Me? To be honest I prefer a balm, something like Sisley’s is perfect to me. Something that sinks in and leaves the lips a little more matte.
The rollerball is metal which means it’s cooling, which is….better for eyes than lips. Not that it really matters because the rollerball does work well, there’s no gunking up and there is (technical term) even distribution.
Orange is nice and orangey, Coconut is nice and coconutty. They’ve gone for simple flavours rather than anything to zany, but I would’ve loved (cos I’m weird) something a bit more creative like, Pina Colada, or Orange and Chilli. Yes, Orange and Chilli.
This product stays on the lips for as long as a thin lip gloss – not that long but whilst it’s there, it feels good.
The product is innovative and worth a try, and the fact it’s natural is great and the price (£4 each) is affordable.
Having said that the downside is that it doesn’t last for long on the lips and the texture is not for everyone – this wouldn’t replace my go to lip balm because I’m just not that into oily based lip moisturisers.
