Surprisingly wearable palette of the day: Estée Lauder Pretty Naughty Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette Review

Spring make up collections tend to be somewhat pastel based and shimmery; this is fine if you like pastel based and shimmer but sometimes these colours can feel quite – to quite my 12 year old cousin – blah.

My first thoughts when seeing the Estée Lauder Pretty Naughty Five Colour Eyeshadow Palette was not ‘blah’, rather ‘eh?’.  The limited edition palette from Estée Lauder from the ‘Pretty Naughty’ collection is very playful but also quite unusual in its compilation…

Here is the pretty palette – I only have two of these eyeshadow sets but they both seem like they’re good quality, and quite universally pleasing…

So here is the Pretty Naughty Palette. All the colours are pleasant enough, but then you think woah – what do I do with that matte pale blue, won’t it look odd, will it clash, will it be too pastel overload? We all know one crazy lady who won’t give up the pastel blue eyeshadow, right? Jean in Finance…Jean in finance, is you are reading this, I’M SORRY.

So I didn’t get round to using this palette until Mother’s Day where I decided to use 3 of the colours only.

A – Pale shimmer pink

B – Matte sheer blue

C- Medium light shimmer brown

D – Shimmery purple lilac

E – Deep gunmetal with glitter

I used A, C and D.

Anyway what really surprised me with this palette is that:

a. It’s really wearable. It doesn’t look like it, but it is. A is a really flattering highlighter, B is a fun pop of colour, C is a useful natural brown but also a good crease colour, D is a pretty and more pigmented than it looks purple and E is an intense smoky grey black which is useful as a liner or just for a smoky eye.  All the colours are soft and smooth, not all are that pigmented but I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. Yet they are not dull or wishy-washy, all the colours stand pretty well on their own.

Later on for this photo I used all 5 colours – as you can see I kept on the make up I wore all day and I think it stayed in place well, such is the quality of Lauder:

I even got some blue in there in the middle of the lid. I made the focal point the purple in this look, but you could do it with the brown, or the blue or the black etc. It is quite versatile!

I didn’t use a primer and the shadows lasted pretty well.

I like that this Pretty Naughty palette is something a bit different but works well too. I can’t think of any palettes in my collection thats has similar shades.

Definitely a nice palette to check out!

The palette is Limited Edition, and is available from the official Estée Lauder website for £35.
