Sukin Detoxifying Clay Masque and Hydrarting Facial Masque Review!

July 8, 2016 |

Sukin is an Australian skincare brand selling ‘Natural’ products – that is they are cruelty free, carbon neutral, vegan and contain clean ingredients.  The impressive part for me when I first saw the range was the price point which is in line with the more high end chemist/drug store brands (ie. £10 for a cleanser) it made me wonder how genuinely natural the products could be.

Having looked in to the ingredients lists, I can conclude that the Skin range does indeed seem like it is not only a ‘cleaner’ range but is also affordable to boot.  The range is also HUGE. Today I am reviewing two of the Masques – Super Green Detoxifying Clay Masque (£11.49) and Hydrating Facial Masque (£10.15). Both are paraben free.

I will review the Chia Seed Oil another time (it’s a good one too).

So the Super Greens Detoxifying Masque is clay based (I love a clay mask) which contains Kale, Spirulina, Parsley and Chlorella. It’s a medium textured mask, in that it’s soft and easy to spread, not too dry but also not runny. It dries after about 10 minutes or so. The Hydrating mask contains Mango Seed Butter, Avocado Oil, Olive Oil and enzymes from Papaya and Pineapple.  This one feels more like a lotion and disappears on the skin as you apply it. It doesn’t set so needs to be washed or wiped off.

I am moderately fussy about my face masks.  I like sheet masks but they cannot be too sloppy or weirdly shaped and they can’t irritate my sensitive skin. I like mud masks but I don’t like the ones that suck every last bit of moisture from my skin and crack!

I really enjoyed using these masks – my skin was very comfortable, not irritated in the slightest when using them and they were easy to wash off afterwards. I love that the ingredients are clean and they should last a while too since i use them together for a bit of mask-face-mapping. For around £10 each I would choose these any time over a standard off the shelf face mask in Boots. I can’t believe the price point still – equivalent brands like this can easily cost double.
