Another day, another lip colour review but you know what? Lips are my thing.
My desire to find a nice matte lip colour hasn’t ended, although I do accept that the majority of matte lip colours suck the moisture out of my lips. Some people can take this kind of product, some can’t. I am definitely in the can’t category. I actually cannot stand the dry feeling or when it starts to settle in to lines…ugh.
One of the better liquid matte colours is Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick – less drying than most. I adore hot pinks so this shade Bella, an unashmedly bright blue based pink was right up my street.
Still Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks come in lots of shades from nudes to brights and with a sponge tipped applicator. They are one of the easier ones to apply, they are very very pigmented and opaque, so one does need to take some care because once you apply this, it’s not moving.
I have worn this when I’ve felt a bit under the weather. Man is it BRIGHT but it’s also fun and with natural everything else on the face I think it’s a cool pop of colour.
I made sure I got it in to all the creases in the lips and put a tiny bit of balm underneath.
As it dried up it did feel errrr….well dry. I panicked. But I kept it on and it actually felt MORE comfortable as time wore on. I am not saying this will hydrate your lips – it won’t, it’s a matte lip colour at the end of the day, but it was certainly not too bad and I didn’t have flaking or dryness the next day which I used to suffer from with other brands.
As a quick comparison, I also have Colorpop in Highball which is a super similar hot pink:
I do not get on with Colorpop liquid lip colours. I find them far too drying to be comfortable to wear unfortunately, and my lips peel the following day. However, they are cheaper than Stila:
They are super similar as you can see here, though the Stila is creamier, dries faster, has a richness to it. Colorpop is not bad at all in terms of pigmentation although it takes longer to set and as I said before, I find it TOO dry and unbearable to wear. (I do totally adore the Colorpop Lippie Stix though – they are amazing for the price).
Excuse my daft expression – here is the lip colour on me. It’s bold yes but it’s fun. Also – YES IT LASTS. All day. Minimal fading. Even when I ate food, the fading was not hideous as it can be with liquid lipsticks (colour left around the edges).
If you love the super matte lip look and want a good quality, not damaging lip product try this! I would certainly buy one in a natural rose colour perhaps in the future.
You can buy it here for £16.
