I am very cautious about using liquid lipsticks even though I know they are really popular now just because so many of them dry extremely matte and my poor lips suffer quite a lot if they get really dry. The worst is when they dry out and they they feel ‘bitty’ for at least a week afterwards (Color pop liquid lipsticks did this).
I tested Stila All Day Liquid Lipstick quite carefully – I know it dries matte so I wore some primer underneath (MAC) and didn’t over apply it either.
Oh let’s talk about the shade! It’s called Bella and it is a HOT pink. I love hot pinks and this one is just right in the neon stakes.
The texture is quite thick and it is extremely pigmented. With a colour as strong as this you probably want to use a lip brush to heated the edges or a lip liner.
I didn’t use a lip liner so sorry, it’s a bit messy, sorry! But you get an idea of the finish and colour. I wondered if I’d feel a bit paranoid with such a bright colour on but with very little on my eyes it was fine.
The most important thing for me is if this is drying or not and the answer is: It’s a VERY matte finish lipstick so yes, it is on the dry side. It’s never going to be that matte and be hydrating. However; I didn’t experience long term peeling which is what other liquid lipsticks do to me, so it’s definitely a good quality option if you have drier lips. I would still recommend using a thin layer or lip primer to protect the lips if they are dry.
