Shu Uemura Beauty Tools

Shu uemura make some of the best beauty tools out there – not just the brushes (oh, Kolinsky brush, how I love thee), but actually tools. Like man tools, but better…

Shu Uemura uses the best Japanese engineering. I own the:

1. Eyelash Curlers

Emblematic shu uemura Eyelash Curler featuring enhanced design and upgraded features for ultimate precision that delivers the perfect curl.

Price: $19.00 / £20.00

- She Uemura’s eyelash curlers are known for being amazing. I think this is because they are wide, and fit round the flat asian eye better – although there is a US and Asia version of these curlers. These are not cheap and also, they need replacing every 4 months or so – when the pads have run down. I find it hard to justiful throwing 2 pairs or even 3 pairs of curlers away per year!

Shiseido (£8) also do a great curler, as do Suqqu (£13) and RMK (£10) – all cheaper than Shu’s and work very well. I do love my 24k curlers though…

2. Mini Eyelash Curlers

Shu Uemura’s emblematic eyelash curler is now available in a smaller size! With the new Mini Eyelash Curler, you can achieve the utmost precision in eyelash curling plus the convenience of portability.

Price: $17.00

I have the Shiseido Mini Curlers and to be honest they don’t do anything for me. They are supposed to be good for those hard to reach bits, the corners, the inner lid. For me…it fiddly to use and takes longer to curl. Bearing in mind I have short and hard to please lashes as it is though. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this product to everyone.

3. False Lash Applicator

They said –

Enables fool-proof false eyelash application. The hand-made, stainless steel applicator has a unique curved tip to hold lashes in the desired position for easy application.

PRICE $55.00

-So not everyone will need these, but they are DREAMY for false lash dummies like myself. The tip is thicker so it won’t hurt if you poke the skin. They are long, and have a great grip, so you can stick the centre of the lash on then work with the inner and outer corners.

Technically you can use tweezers, but I find most tweezers too thick and clunky to use, blocking my vision and ability to move the lash after it has started dry. You can really get into the inner corner with the thin ends, and get it close to the root of the lashes.

4. Scissors

They said –

CUTTER (W/CASE)

Professional-use precision eyebrow hair trimmer with a straight tip. Packaged in a leather pouch designed to protect the tips.

PRICE $120.00

HOW MUCH! I know, I know. And to think I use these babies to cut my fringe.

These scissors are THE BOMB. They are super sharp, super easy to handle. I use them for brows and fringes at the moment. The come in a crappy leather case (eek – no idea where mine is), and they are so effortless, that using anything else makes it hard to use anything else.

Just don’t let your kids borrow it to do paper crafts.

5. Tweezers

They Say –

Professional tweezers with a precision slant tip for accuracy in hair removal. Packaged in a clear cylindrical carry case for portability or travel. Useful also for handling of false eyelashes.

PRICE $32.00

LOVE these tweezers. Brilliant again at getting those teeny hairs that are just poking out of the skin. There are lots of good tweezers, to be fair, from tweezerman for example so I wouldn’t say you must buy these but I personally love them. It feels great in the hand – heavy but not too much so. Smooth metal, and squeezes together nicely (you know how some cheap ones require a super tight grip?)

Pics:

I know, I know – HOW MUCH?! It’s easy to buy some cheap scissors, and cheap tweezers of course and that’s not to say cheaper goods don’t work just as well. However – the product mentioned above are excellent.

If I could only take one to heaven…I’d take the tweezers. Or the scissors. For your money you can get good curlers, and tweezers from other brands. The scissors are amazing though and the lash applicator is too.

This kind of stuff is worth investing in – it can last you a life time *
