I’ve never used Youngblood make up before receiving this Holiday Glam set to review:

Youngblood Holiday Glam bag contains:

1. Vixen Lipstick (a red)

2. Truly Red Lip Liner Pencil

3. Venetian Sun Loose Blush (a light pink-gold type shade)

Its a little unusual, I guess, to review a lipstick and blush from a Mineral make up company, rather than foundation but it makes a nice change.

What I noticed about the lipstick is that it feels a little bit harder than I usually like – I like my lipsticks to be like Utterly Butterly at room temperature, but I’ve noticed this trait quite a lot in Mineral lipsticks.

In the tube it looks like a nice red – I have tons of nice reds at the moment but it really came to life once it was on the lips:

This is a great red, not overly vampy or too subtle. It also makes my lips look healthy rather than emphasizing my usually dry smackers.

Here is the blush:

On me, its more of a highlighter – its a light pink infused with gold. Its very pretty but as I said, more of a highlighter for girls with warm-dark skin.

Not a bad set for the holidays and a little slice of the brand. I’d like to try some of the base products out at some point to see if it can convert me (I am still a little cynical towards mineral make up – I just hate overly powdery finishes on the skin).

You can buy it here for £38 or if you are in the US, for a rather better value $39 here.

I really think you should try Julie Hewett’s Rouge Noir lipstick; it’s similar in color to Vixen and I think you’d like it. I can try to have a review up in the next few days, if it’ll help.

Oooo…Which palette was it? Was it an eyeshadow palette or one of the combo-palettes, replete with creme blush, creme liner and the like?

I’ve really only tried the eyeshadows and lipsticks so far; my assessment for both products is relatively good (providing you manage to find a flattering shade), but as JHLA seems to have changed the formulation of many of its products without so much as a whisper on its website, I’ve now decided to reserve my judgment until I’ve received a response from the company itself. The one good thing about Youngblood is that the product ingredients are listed right on the website. :-/
