I finally invested in a tub of Ojon Intensive Repair Hair Treatment. This costs £29 for 100ml so its pretty pricey. You get the brown solid oil in a tub with a comb:
The secret to the Ojon hair treatment is supposed to be the Ojon oil, used by Tawira Indians of Central America for over 500 years.
The treatment is supposed to help dry, damaged hair and can be used as a 20 minute treatment or an overnight treatment.
You only need a small amount of the oil, otherwise we are looking at grease ball territory. You get a comb with it to work the product through your hair.
Its similar to coconut oil in that its a solid, but once it gets warmer than 30° C, it starts to melt. Not a problem, it sets again once the temperature drops.
It smells nice….kind of nutty. The oil takes a moment to melt, (perhaps because I am in colder climes) and once you work it through your hair, its just lovely!
Apply to dry hair for best results. Scoop ½ teaspoon into the palm of your hand; warm by rubbing between your hands until it becomes an oil. Distribute from scalp to hair ends until hair is fully saturated. Massage 1-2 minutes to stimulate hair follicles and scalp while allowing oil to penetrate. Comb hair thoroughly to ensure all strands are completely saturated; leave for 20 minutes or longer.
I prefer treatments that can be used on dry hair. Most treatments need to be applied on wet/shampooed hair – I don’t know about you but after I’ve washed my hair, I don’t want to hang about in the shower for 15 minutes waiting for a treatment to penetrate. Its cold. I’m bored.
I am a fan of Ojon but do bear in mind its for dry, damaged hair, it may be too rich for you otherwise. Its also quite expensive but lasts quite a long time.
