I finally took the plunge despite have FAR TOO MANY MAKE UP BRUSHES – yes – I purchased some Real Techniques make up brushes specifically for travelling back in January! Amazon have these brushes on sale with a slight discount (about 10%) and I had some credit so I used it on these! (Bear in mind Amazon prices can fluctuate from day to day!).
The ‘Core Collection’ contains four brushes and a case that doubles as a make up stand.
The brushes are made with Taklon, and are cruelty free. I like the look of them very much; they look more expensive then they actually are (I mean, many brands have one brush for more than £20 never mind a set of 4).
A closer look at the four brushes.
- detailer brush: precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition
- pointed foundation brush: Use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage
- buffing brush: ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation
- contour brush: delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish
I have used these brushes a lot, purely because these days I don’t have much time for make up so when I do, I need a concentrated, just grab set of brushes which these are. I have had a lot of use out of them although I’ve been using them for various things, not just what they are made for! I’ve been using the largest brush for blending or applying powder, the next brush down for foundation, the third brush for liquid blush…
The only brush I have had little use for is the smallest precision brush purely because it was too time consuming to use it for concealer (I’d rather have a mini buffing brush to blend the concealer in than apply it slowly) and I don’t use a brush for lipstick.
For around £20 this is good value for four brushes and a case! When I was buying my first brushes it was hard to find a good quality set for cheap so this definitely fills this void. Also, I haven’t noticed any shedding or hair loss from the brushes either! Recommended!
