When Baby H was born he was bald and skinny…in those first months of life, he started to slowly grow hair in at the sides of his head, giving him a full on ‘old man’ look which was not at all flattering. Then all of a sudden – BOOM. Thick, lush, dark but highlighted hair appeared from no where, and by the time he was one is, he had an impressive head of beautiful hair.
Since he had a hairdresser phobia I tried to cut it at home – semi disaster. Anyway, I realised that my boy needs some decent hair styling so I discovered the Original Sprout range, which is made for children and contains no toxic nasties.
I have the Hair Gel and Styling Balm. I have had the Gel for ages and this is a new balm because I lost the other one – they last a LONG time.
The gel is runny and watery feeling. It doesn’t leave stickiness on the hands. It has little hold and you certainly can’t spike with it buy you can smooth and tame odd ends. Don’t get this product for control, just to add a wet look and minor sleeking (so to speak).
The Wax is an incredibly thick, dense textured wax and has the best hold I have ever seen in a boys wax (including Mr C’s products). Once this stuff is in the hair it is THERE and it will hold all day no problem. it has a matte finish unlike the gel, and you must not use too much or it can leave a residue on the hair and make it feel really rough. I love how good this wax holds – even when H’s hair was super long, it held it up (and made him look electrocuted!).
Here’s how it looks when I use the gel on H’s hair –
I love that this is a VERY natural produce but I find it isn’t long lasting and needs to be reapplied after a few hours.
I like this look, Mr C hates it, but I think he looks dapper!
And when I wax it up:
I have been using these products on H whenever I need to perk his hair up and will continue to do so because they are just free from unnecessary chemicals. One downside is the price – both cost over £10 each which is quite a lot of a kids styling product, but they are very long lasting so in my opinion worth it!
I buy Original Sprout from whatever online sources is the cheapest with free shipping – Beauty Bay is a good bet.
